I really don't see how they cannot add damage to the vehicles or that the manufacturer's won't allow it. Heck. Forza 2 has damage on the cars no matter the car.

Maybe they could satiate the companies by having the default not show damage on the car? And then allow the users to turn on the damage models.

Most of the cars from GT:HD are also found in Forza 2. That never stopped Forza 2 developers to include damage modeling in their game.

I attribute Polyphony's comment about "car manufacturers don't want their cars wrecked" to be nothing more than a mouthful of verbal diarrhoea.

Polyphony is simply too lazy to exert the effort to implement damage modeling, pure and simple.



Ooooookay then. I was considering getting this game because I haven't given the racing genre a fair shake in recent years.

Looking at that list has changed my mind. There's no way in hell I want to play a game with that many damn cars. 380 at start? Good lord. What happened to games with a dozen or two?

I have a REALLY hard time believing the 10k figure. That just seems like complete and utter overkill.

 

EDIT: I should explain.  What I'm getting at is that when I try a racing game, I'm rarely if ever interested in how real the cars act, as far as exact specs and precision performance and all that.  I just wanna choose whichever car happens to look cool, and drive it.  I'd be lying if I said I wasn't altogether intimidated and ultimately "scared off" by that massive number.

no car manufactures used to hate their cars getting damaged, hence why Need for Speed used to never have name brand cars, same with Burnout. Look at Motorstorm it doesnt (does Dirt?).

I don't quite follow your comment, but I gather you're trying to say that:

Car manufacturers hate to see their cars damaged in-game, and that's why NFS never used to have name brand cars; this can also be seen in games like Burnout and Motorstorm.

Is that the gist of what you're saying?
