Bond would also have sex with Lois Lane before killing Superman.

I'll watch it tommorow and I'll give my impressions tommorow on this thread.

I might be one of the few to say this, but while I liked the movie, I found the action scenes to be the biggest detraction. I thought the same about Casino Royal bomb maker chase scene too. They just blow up the action scenes too much. It's not as bad as in some movies but I thought most of the action scenes could have been trimmed or toned down a bit.

And it seems like most complaints about the movie are that it isn't what people were expecting (the more traditional bond films). Except traditional bond films are outright goofy, so they decided to reinvent the series. Batman and Bond Begin, Superman and Indiana return. Notice which two series' have taken off and which two royally sucked?

I'm happy with the new direction, as the Brosnan's were delving in to Moore territory. And fuck the Moore movies were bad.
Live and Let die was Bond + Crappy blaxploitation film = bad bond movie,
The Man with the Golden Gun was just plain silly,
Moonraker was so silly it made Man with the Golden Gun look good and last but absolutely stinking worst...
Octopussy... An evil traveling circus? A palace of lady ninjas? Bond dressed up as a clown? The fact that grown men would pay to see these movies is why the male stereotype exists.

We've got to face it people, in the past, some of the worst written and most poorly conceived films to reach box office success have had the name Bond on them. The fact that they've decided to scrap the whole thing and start fresh makes a lot of sense.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Indeed, stof, the Bond franchise was about as sour as it could have been. Anybody decrying this move in a new direction must have forgotten just how bad the franchise had gotten. I am frankly amazed to this day that the franchise recovered.

It was like Pierce Brosnan in Goldeneye narrowly avoiding crashing into the mountains, except you weren't sure he was going to pull it off.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

It's not even a new direction. It's an old direction. They try this all the time. The Bond series is a constant dance between serious dark gritty Bond and witty charming one-liner Bond. The best movies use both styles at once very effectively. It seems most people prefer one Bond style or the other. They either love the dark "new" emotional direction, or they miss their wit, charm, and one-liners and think this is becoming a Bourne Identity clone. In License to Kill, Bond actually quit his job (and gave up his license to kill) because he was so hell-bent on revenge. In Diamonds Are Forever he's hell-bent on revenge for what happened with Blofeld in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (but that's Connery, so he's got more of the wit/charm/zings as well, making it a great combo).

Anyway, I gotta stop hanging out in this thread until I see the movie.

And I understand why you guys hate on Moore. But... come on. Those movies had Jaws (in 2 badass films), lazer guns, space battles, Christopher Walken, Grace Jones, and a theme song by Duran Duran. The Moore years weren't as bad as you guys make them out to be. The Man With the Golden Gun had jokes about 3rd nipples AND it had Hervé Villechaize (the king of the 6th dimension). And that movie has extra sentimental value because it inspired years of my life playing GoldenEye with the golden gun weapon on multiplayer.

Rubang, On Her Majesty's Secret Service had George Lazenby as Bond, not Connery.

The only good part of the movie was the intro song.

The villain was a wimp.

Whats Quantum?

I think their will be a sequel ¯ not a bad point but obviously a bridge movie between Casino and Bond 23

Discuss and agree.

WORST BOND MOVIE EVER!!!

O-D-C, you are usually a pretty mellow guy but have you even seen Moonraker? That was the worst Bond movie ever. And besides, every Bond has their bad movie.

Yes, it was Lazenby who was done wrong in OHMSS, but it was Connery who was hell-bent on revenge  in Diamonds are Forever.  Bond is so badass that he can switch bodies in direct sequels.

I guess my parenthetical was awkwardly placed.

This movie was awesome.

Sorry, guys! It was. You can all change your business cards now that you have been corrected.

Well as for the game, there will never be another hot 007 game like Goldeneye for N64. As for the movie, Pierce Brosman was one of the best bonds. Personally I think the last good bond movie was Die Another Day.
