I've been there and done it. What I say is how PAY games use their system. What I am saying is how paid moderators work. I think Wii_Gamer wants this site to become professional feeling. Similar to other major game websites. I dont think he wants it to have a "We are here to have fun. Who cares." feel. I'll just say this. I have never met a great mod with a soul while working. Once agian. I was a mod for a pay game. I understand how this stuff works. Mods can post and talk. Fine. Mods should keep away from haveing 'friends' and 'opinions'. Example. I am a mod that likes the Wii. I tout it everywhere. When someone comes in like Washuml... and is posting alot of posts against the wii for the PS3. And you ban him... even though there were people following troll suit, for the Wii. You will never be respected again by the PS3/360 group. As long as you dont have favorites. Everyone will like you. Or hate you. Wether they like you or not, is how you handle stuff. Not if you like the same console as them or not. Opinion means nothing as to wether you are liked or not. Saying it is all that matters is foolish.

See, you'd be far too impersonal to be a mod then. You'd be far too robotic with the approach you wish to take as a mod. You'd have no feelings, you'd be cold, devoid, insipid.... No one WANTS that with a moderator. A mod's duties are to follow whatever the forums mandate might be, but also TAKE PART WITH THE FORUMS. To go as far as saying that an opinion means you'd divide the forums into groups determined by console of choice is asinine. As well, play favourites? Yes, it does happen, but I seriously doubt it'll happen here because the admins will do a good job in getting a moderator who will be IMPARTIAL, but will also have enough humanity to SPEAK THEIR OPINIONS. Maybe you're a drone, but 99.9% of everyone else here aren't.

I'm just saying that a mod should be someone who is respected for being unbiased. Great mods are for lack of better words... people I dont like. However good mods can be fun and entertaining. You just have to know how much personality/sarcasm/joke to put in your post. Mods should be if anything encouraged to participate in discussions. EDIT: Rendo - You have never seen me mod. Quit saying what I am not. I am far from a drone. I was one of the ONLY mods on the pay game I modded, that didn't use macro'd scripts. I would type everything for everyone. 100% personal. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Well we'll just see how it goes then ay? I think the first few days with the mods will be a nice trial...we'll definitely have more defined ideas and criticisms when we've had mods for a bit.

I didn't mean "You" you. Let me rephrase that: "So I guess one is a good mod if one doesn't start insulting people oneself.". I was talking about what makes a mod a good mod - a mod should be able to separate opinions and personal attacks. He should leave other people's opinions untouched and clamp down on personal attacks. And I certainly don't think a mod should stop any discussion between fans of Wii, PS3, or 360. Is that what you would like, less fanboy arguments? That's not at all what a mod should touch.

The general conversation is regarding what a moderator should or should not do, and I think that fits in nicely with Wii_Gamer looking for suitable moderators. It will give him a better idea, if he chooses to consider these opinions, in the type of person these forums need.
