Forums - Microsoft - Official NXE Reviews & Impressions thread from VGCers

@Jordahn

So I mean you press the Guide Button and does it contain the blade like the original Guide. Or does it have something new when you press it?

Thats where I'm trying to get at.

Played around with it for like 20 min this morning. From what I have seen it is awesome. So much smoother, and creating an avatar took me like 5 min, and I was actually playing around with it. Cant wait to download my games to my Elite hard-drive tonight.

Yup that's what I figured also. I thought Microsoft was using DVD-9's thats why I said that most of the game data is installed on the HDD. But its awesome to know that the disk drive isn't spinning at its 12X speed anymore. We can all now install the games to the HDD and have a safe gaming experience.

Also might I add, I have a 20GB HDD its not bad for me because to point out I don't  play multiple games at once. I generally play 2 or 3 titles at a time and after that I just contiune on with other games. So I might have to end up purchasing either the 60GB or 120GB HDD.

Right now I have Gears of War, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja and Halo 3. I'm playing those and factoring in I only have about 13GB's left. Only 2 games will be able to get on my HDD, so I will have to upgrade real soon. I really don't have to install the games to the HDD, but it is a nice feature to not be able to hear the disk drive spinning.

There are other benefits to game installation(s) 'ya know - Outside of the DVD not spinning at all.

Like what? I know there is other things, but the "installing games to HDD" is fascinating bro!!!!

@TheTruthHurts!

I'm sooo freaking jealous of you right now!!! I need a 120GB ASAP!! Have fun downloading those 360 games to the HDD!!!

Well, there's the whole "massively decreased loading times" thing that happen when you install games on the HDD...

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

@mrstickball

There is?

I mean I figured that would happen considering the wealth of data is transfered to the HDD. But I forgot about that.
Nice!!! so that means we won't have to hear the drive making movements back and forth every 2 seconds!

because of these installs they need to offer larger hds, in the 200+ range, so we can put all our games on it, and download other stuff if we want

right now id like to put 18 of my games on the system, but with current hd size restrictions 16 is max (because of os used space,a and what not), and with that there is little space for demos

Oh they will release a new HDD. There is way more 360 users out there that would take advantage of the installing games to HDD feature. I will also. So it would make perfect sense for them to make a upgrade HDD.

I just wish Microsoft was smart and did what Sony did and let the user upgrade the drive on their own.

A bit off topic but if you ever want to co-op in Gears hit me up. I still need to get the Dom achievements and I'll never get it playing with my cousin. His name is Dominick so he never wants to be Marcus.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Dude sure!!

Problem is I want the Dom achievements also. So I mean we can take turns. But I'm already in the process of completing the game. I'm playing on Insane mode and I'm at Act 3.

Microsoft is brilliant, one firmware update and now so many people want to get a bigger hard drive. I'll try this out later and see if the same happens to me.

As it stands I probably only have space for one game, since I downloaded Ninja Gaiden Black which takes like 5 GB.
