good COD WAW. this game (PS3 version) even surpassed Resistance 2 for PS3 instantly

It seem even COD5 360 version outsold Gears 2.

It seems likely considering the total sales for COD5, but I would expect Chartrack to mention it in their news article. Of course the release of Gears 2 might have caused CoD5 to sell almost even across PS3 and Xbox 360, in which case it could end up just short of Gears.

Not really since Gears 2 is ~250k and it seems a little less for CODWaW first week, around ~230k based on what you guys are saying. Nevertheless, it is huge for CoDWaW and both will be big hits this holiday. Also, I dont think Resistance 2 can even reach 150k first week.

Chart Track didn't provided enough figures this time anyway. COD5 sold between 479k and 677k. So with PC version doing just aroud 20-30k, 360 version must have passed Gears 2 and PS3 version might have been close to Gears 2 numbers.

shanbcn, subtracting PC and Wii sales probably puts the Xbox360 and PS3 sales at the low end at around 440k. A 240k versus 200k split means it stays below Gears, although only just. And I really don't expect it to be close to the high end, cause people don't say "more than 2 to 1" if the difference is closer to 3 to 1.

wow it is great if COD 360 surpassed gears, third party developer loves 360 so much that 360 as lead platform will continues ,well into 2009. :)

anyway great so many xbox 360 titles, 'others' xbox 360 number software sales will be better than ps3 again this week.

Call of Duty:World at War:

360: 55%
PS3: 31%
PC: 14%

That adds up to 100%, so I'm guessing they're ignoring the other versions in this comparison.

The combined launch week sales of the XB360, PS3 and PC versions of the latest instalment have outsold those for ‘Call of Duty 4’ by more than 2 to 1.

Same as the "more than 2 to 1" statement.

It’s an Activision Blizzard world this week as the favourite for Christmas No1 ‘Call of Duty: World at War’ tops the All Formats Chart, becoming the UK’s 3rd fastest selling video game of all time (behind ‘GTA IV’ and ‘GTA San Andreas’).

It seems likely that this includes all versions, so it's possible that XB360, PS3,and PC did not alone outsell FIFA 09.

If XB360, PS3,and PC only just outsold COD4 2 to 1 with say maybe 445k that would put each version at:

360: 245k
PS3: 138k
PC: 62k

These are pretty much minimums, but help us to refine it bit. Looking at the maximum, if it outsold COD4 by 2.5 to 1 with 555k we get:

360: 305k
PS3: 172k
PC: 78k

So average would be:

360: 275k (+/- 30k)
PS3: 155k (+/- 17k)
PC: 70k (+/- 8k)

It looks like CoD: WaW (360) most likely outsold Gears 2, but there's a slim chance it didn't. We'll have to wait for a future Chart-Track blurb to find out.

Also, 8th biggest week ever for value sales, and tenth biggest ever for unit sales.

CoD: WaW (PC) shows us that this was an absolutely massive week for UK, Wii Music & LBP don't seem to have bombed as much as it first seemed. Both should have sold over 60k this week, and potentially even higher.

So 14th title in UK this week sold more than 14th title in all Others the previous week. Interesting.
