either way last weeks media create numbers for the ps3 were over 40k and VGchartz used something even lower than famitsu 36k.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

why should i believe that vgchartz can do the numbers without famitsu and MC? The only times they have ever released before famitsu and MC the numbers were brutal on all accounts and all adjusted after famitsu and MC come out. Numbers are often adjusted anyway, if vgchartz has so many sources they would stick by their sources not adjust when famitsu says differently. I dare vgchartz to release their numbers before famitsu. I'm not trying to debunk vgchartz, they just need to stop claiming they can do something they cannot. NA numbers have a good track record, EU numbers have also been pretty good, but Japanese numbers when not aided by other sources have not.

Except that... VGC doesn't base their numbers off MediaCreate or Famitsu. Here's a hint - VGC bases their numbers off of their sales data they get...

Seriously, am I the only one that realizes that this happens ALL the time? Jeez if it's such a big deal I'll go back and find all the weeks that VGC had the PS3 higher than Famitsu - and demand that they be lowered!

Famitsu doesn't always agree with MediaCreate, and VGC doesn't always agree with them, and normally there's one that doesn't agree with the other two. Why is this week such a big deal?

if you don't think they base their numbers off of famitsu and media create you are in denial.  They are always almost the same and are almost always released after famitsu sometimes after MC, and maybe you don't remember the 2 weeks when vgchartz released numbers before famitsu and mediacreate (it was due to a holiday MC and famitsu were delayed a week) but it wasn't pretty either time.  The Japanese preliminary reports are not very accurate either.  I love vgchartz go on here all the time but this is the truth, what I have seen so far.

 

 I'm not sure where VGC had it - but if they were to "base" it off of one or the other - which one should they pick? Just average it out? In in this case (and in most cases) VGC gets their numbers out before MediaCreate - and in this case it seems MC will agree with VGC numbers.
