MGS4 is a great game. The online is better than some claim. The online isn't as easy as COD4. Thanks for reviving a thread from July.

Sorry MGS4 is nice but Super Mario Galaxy is far better.

How can a game be the best game of this gen if I have no idea what the hell is going on unless I play all of the previous games? The game isn't the best if I can't enjoy it right away.

Alright, I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but imo, MGS4 is good, but not that good. It's tres over rated, and is definitely not my favourite game of all time.

Alright, I'll name one. SMG (no, not sub machine gun :P)... I was really into this game and I have to say this and SSBB (I like to use acronyms, and if you can't guess what they stand for, then meh to you :P), followed by LBD, MP3, and CoD4. Alright, I actually just named 5. Except one problem. My opinion is not fact. Neither is yours. So, please stop with these MGS4 fanboy threads.

Also, my favourite game of all time is probably a tie between Mother 2/Earthbound and Mother 3.

Hmm, MGS4 certainly is great.

IMHO

However, there are a few games I feel are equal to or better than MGS4 this gen.

First and foremost, is Fallout 3. It's just magnificent, immerse, and as fun as MGS4, but about 10 times longer with more replay value. It's my favorite game this generation.

I think the Gears 2 campaign comes close or ties MGS4.

I'd say Braid was equally as engaging, but slightly worse.

Super Mario Galaxy and Bioshock are both slightly better, imo, GTAIV slightly worse.

RE4 Wii edition, considerably better.

CoD4 equal.

LBP slightly worse.

I guess it's like this:

2. RE4 Wii edition
3. Bioshock
4. Super Mario Galaxy
5/6. MGS4/CoD4
7. Gears 2
8. Braid
9. LBP
10. Gears 1
11. World of Goo
12. GTAIV

Honerable mention to Elite Beat Agents.

I think there are a lot of games that people have and haven't played. Including myself. While we might assume our favorite game is the best of the generation, it may be possible that other games, which we haven't played yet, might be better, like Gears 2, SMG, or Fallout 3.

great game indeed. But imo titles like LBP, mass effect, Gears 2, Bioshock and a few others can compete with it with their own strenghts.

It was pretty good. I wouldn't say it's the best this gen. Personally I wouldn't even put it in my top 10. Overall though, I'd say it's one of the best. I didn't fall in love with it, but I can see why other people would.

My personal favorite game this gen would have to be Super Mario Galaxy. LittleBigPlanet, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Bioshock are all up there too.

I have and played the game. Check my profile it's there, or better yet ask the guys at the Warhawk league. I'm pretty sure they saw me playing MGS4. This is the second weakest game in the MG series. The story doesn't get interesting until the second half of the game. The bosses were pretty uninteresting. They had no personality. After you kill them, then Drebin calls you and tells you the life story of them. Who cares? They're dead already. They made a few changes that hurt the game. Drebin points getting ammo easy. There is no motivation to not waste your bullets. The game is too linear. The map tells you where to go. The octocamo made stealthing too easy. The drama is cheesy. Otacon crying over a one night stand. lol.

The gameplay, presentation and graphics (duh) were the best in the series.
