Forums - Sales - LBP dropped to 66K in NA (3rd week) , good or bad ?

isn`t that a 2nd week in reality?
anyway, 66 is NOT good.
BUT, not many people can afford 5-10 games in 1 week,
neither not much people can afford 15 games per month.

Everything will be fine. =)
2 mln. LBP by the end of the year.

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

@selnor

well guess what your LBP prediction will actually come true....

unlike ALL your other horrible predictions

What predictions are you refering to? I dont make that many. The ones in my sig are doing alright.(Banjo Kazooie is probably optimistic). And dont mention Kingofwales sig. Ive addressed that.

My Fable 2 prediction was very close. Gears 2 nearly spot on. And my HD gap predict is moving the right way at least.

uuuh... NO! This game is generated towards everyone it may be in the casuals category but there are plenty of people that are "hardcore" that bought this game, not just kids and girls, so seriously quit while you can, you just sound misinformed, which you are!

Hmmm, a game with mediocre sales at best has "plenty of people that are 'hardcore' that bought" it?  Explain to me how that works - from a non-fanboy point of view...

There's no doubt this game was marketed more towards the casual crowd.

Compared to the projections, the sales are mediocre.

As for the person who says I'm a fanboy who only bash, please post examples. As a matter of fact, when someone created a thread about which would sell more - Fable 2 vs. Little Big Planet, I chose Little Big Planet.

Don't get upset just because you and I don't share the same tastes in games. And I prefer not to stretch the truth like you did by saying "Plenty of hardcore users bought it".

No, plenty of users bought Gears. A relatively small number bought LBP when you factor in hype and advertising.

you console fanboys really have zero idea what gaming is it seems... sigh...

go play your mindless dribble on a consistent basis then while we play new games.

Yes because no other game was purely built on level editoring in the history of gaming.

theres very few that make it an actual gameplay element to the game. Game modification is way different then LBP's editor. LBP takes an innovative leap in the console world by introducing this type of gameplay.

And if you want to know I was meaning your "hardcore" shooters. If you want to play a real hardcore FPS, please play Counter Strike, Half-Life, Unreal, Doom, Battlefield, Wolfenstein, System Shock, Deus Ex, etc on PC that are actually of a calibur above the trash you play on your 360. Oh and just to kick you in the gears, go play Gunz: The Duels for your third person shooter.

Worth noting.  Only in the console world.

As a PC gamer you should know similar stuff has been around forever.

Not a game like little big planet with such efficient tools that are optimised for multiple people working on the same piece at the same time.

So... Multiplayer editing is why it's so different?

That's kinda like saying a FPS is revolutionary for having 16 person Co-op.

hehe, this thread is fun...

Every other response is either funny, idiotic, sarcastic, sad, and/or blinded fanboyism.

1) LBP selling 66k on its second official week (or third unofficial week) would be ok for any other game. But this is "LBP is HUGE" we're talking about.. the same game that has been hyped to death on these forums, the same game most 360 fanboys want to play. It should of hit 1 million in its first official week, yet it might not even hit 1 million by end of year.

2) LBP is casual, calling it hardcore is... stupid. Guitar Hero is Casual, Wii Sports is Casual, Scene It! is Casual, Geometry Wars is Casual, Thumb war is Casual. If its rated "E for Everyone", then its more then likely Casual (not a rule, more of an easy measuring stick for Casual vs. Hardcore)

3) "Casual" doesn't not mean crap - I enjoy Casual games

4) New Ip's don't sell ?? - Mass Effect, Bioshock, Gears of War are all Million+ sellers and new IP's...

As anyone actually wondered why LPB sales are lower then anticipated? Like I said in #1, it should of been a million seller from week one...

You know how rare it is for a game to actually get 1 m+ first week right? It only happens like once or twice a year if we're lucky.

So no, no sane people expected 1m+ first week.

Bet - "PES 2009 (PS3) will sell (closer to) 150k first week in Japan" - Pooperscopper
"It will sell closer to 125k" - Me I agree.
ME = OWNED :(

End of '09 Predictions:

Wii: 78 million
X360: 35 million
PS3: 27 million

Odd. I could have sworn there were more than 2 games that sold 1M first week in 2008.

GTA IV 360 - 3.4M

SSB Brawl - 2.8M

GTA IV Ps3 - 2.5M

Mario Kart - 2.4M

Gears 2 - 2.1M

MGS 4 - 1.7M

Wii Fit - 1.4M (Japan launch was in 07)

I'm sure I'm missing some, and I'm not even counting multiplats.

And in 07, there were even more.

I'm guessing that the average over 5 years, would be 1 1M+ seller first week a month.
