Yeah, as long as they have good moral, economic, foreign, ect. ideas.

I would much prefer an athiest in a position of power. In fact if you gave me a choice between a religious person and an athiest I would choose the athiest to make decisions for me everytime because I believe they would have a less bias judgement of situations such as abortion and so on.

I said "otherwise well qualified". What I intended was to see if you wouldn't vote for someone just because of their (lack of) religious beliefs. Being an atheist doesn't affect personality one way or the other. After all, all newborn babies possess no religious beliefs... |
you dont have to be nice to be qualified. plenty of hateful people are qualified.

hehe
Religion or lack thereof doesnt faze me for a political leader, as their goal is to run the country, not persuade faith one way or the other. I'd prefer a leader who is not so hardcore on religion, as they would have it interfering less than someone who feels that they must morally save the world due to religious conviction. As long as they dont screw with intact systems like taking phrases like "In God We Trust" out of the treasury or "one nation under God" out of the pledge of allegiance, we're good to go. Basically as long as they are focused on running the country and not their personal M.O, Id be ok with that.

Nah, anybody is just as likely as anyone else to be biased towards their morals and beliefs. Every person, atheists included, have their beliefs on what is wrong and right. Whether or not they will use power to change the country to fith their beliefs, that depends on who they are, their personality, not their religion.
I voted for an atheist last time.
