Forums - Sales - The Verdict is in -- SACKBOY STRIKES BACK! 670K Week 1 WW (wk 0 + 1 in NA)

While i have no issues with the game, the DLC content from Sony leaves something to be desired.

The 2 free customes are nice bonus for first week buyers but the limited edition T-Shirt for sackboy is almost 10% the cost of the game! In Australia it is $8.99 and in the UK £4.99, if thats the sign of the cost of DLC to come, then by sweet baby Jesus the Disney package must cost half the game!

Knowing Disney I hope it isn't as bad as the Oblivion Horse Armor.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

LBP IS huge. It's not a shooter. It's not Mario or Zelda. It's a new kind of game on PS3 with a new character whom the public is not familiar with. And why will it have legs? Because everyday someone will make a new and awesome level for us to play. Even if only one in 10 people manage to make a cool level as it stands now we will already have thousands of amazing levels to play and that number grows exponentially.

This game is great. We all knew it would sell around 500k in its first week and here it is at 650k. Excellent!

I bought mine yesterday. Am downloading the game update now.

please....you doesn't have anything better to do?

LBP = New Western IP

since when do Western IP's (forget new ones) EVER sell in Japan.....

so I agree with you

Crash Bandicoot

To be fair, I think the week 0 + week 1 is a bit misleading... It's actually more than 1 week on the market but at the same time, it's not enough for 2.

@Snarf Barf: I answer once again with Crash Bandicoot. This game really was huge. It was the original Playstation killer app. It was a new IP developed by an unknown western developer and it sold extremely well (and in Japan as well).

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

It was 10 years ago, trends change, back than platformers were really popular.

anything to make you feel better.

469k would make LBP the 7th best launch week for a PS3 title.
670k (week 0 +1 in US) would make it the 3rd best launch week, behind only MGS4 & GTA4.

Check out my prediction, before posting. I was talking about Japan, where platformers don't sell like they used to.

Great job LBP, well deserved!
