Very impressive. It outdid my expectations, and I was relatively optimistic (500-600K).

I'm guessing this will make it the best selling game in its genre this gen, and that is the biggest genre of all (2D platformers, hey, they have the highest total!). 

It only needs to beat Super Paper Mario, which has sold 2.48M. SPM will end at less than 3M, which I feel (and hope) LBP can beat.

Just to note, that will be the Ps3's first best seller in its genre this generation.

So what can we conclude from that?

Did ioi even track these bundles?  Since you could choose ar e they trackable? 

Again, this proves nil.  Get me a message or post form ioi where he says he tracks these, or that they're trackable, since you can pick and choose games, then we're talking.

Until then, this, as most of your posts, is speculation.

Gears of war 2 also come with much much cheaper bundle and also include first GeOW here in Spain. 270€ 60gb bundle with two games compared to 400€ LBP bundle. 360 is in big trouble because its still selling on par with PS3. PS3 price cut will destroy 360 completely in PAL region.

Sales of this game were helped by bundling since it's bundled in Spain.  >_>

I was expecting 400k first week, so it did do better than I thought.

I see at least 3-4 million long term.

People keep comparing it's first week sales to hardcore shooters. Platform games, and casual games in general, have much longer legs that shooters. I expect the new Banjo game to have a weak opening and sell well over the long term.

Ratchet had 131k first weeks sales, and is currently at 10x that.
SMG sold 1M first week, and is now 7x first week sales.


Halo3, GTA4 & MGS4 are around twice their week one sales.

You guys are still arguing over this.


LBP is a success, however its not as HUGE as most expected. It's really not fair to the game anyway.

Poor old LBP didnt even make it into the top 3 here in the UK :(
Therefore im guessing these numbers are less then accurate seeing as in UK is where majority of the software sales come from.

If Fifa 09 on 360 was 3rd in the chart and that sold only 50k then i cannot see at all LBP selling 200k if it was not above it....That just does not make any sense at all. So personally i think these numbers are way out.

The first week sales , though in no way of the "OMG Eat crow Sony boy" levels, is not the astounding success you wouldve thought it would be while browsing through the dozen or so LBP hype threads in the build up to release. \
Verdict: Sales relatively good, considering the number of big games releasing around it.
