Forums - Sales - Call of Duty: World at War Sales Predictions

I doubt that COD WaW will be a million seller on the Wii. Sales will be more like 400-500k ltd. Not many Wii owners are waiting for a World War 2 shooter.

@ munkeh

Yeah it got a great review on psw I think it was. 10/10.

I was just thinking with all the other big hitters out it might dent its sales a bit.

Worldwide First Week:

360 - 835k
Ps3 - 475k
Wii - 295k

Hopefully great sales for the Wii version (somewhere around 1.5mi at least breaking 1mi) will encourage 3rd parties (mainly small ones) to do better games for the wii, just like HVS is trying.

360: 800k
PS3: 400k
Wii: 100k

And The Conduit won't have an effect on CoD at all for the Wii. It's not going to be as big as people say it is.

Call of Duty >>> Resistance

Even though it's not made by Infinity Ward, I don't think that many people know it.

First week:
Xbox 360: over 1 mil
PS3: about 350k
Wii: 100-150k

Lifetime:
Xbox 360: 4-5 mil
PS3: 2mil
Wii: 1mil

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Activision 1 412,441 412,441

That is from last year, so this year I expect:

360 = 1.5m
PS3 = 750k
Wii = 350k

LTD

360 = 7m
PS3 = 4.5m
Wii = 1m

Waaay too much for 360 and a decent bit too much for PS3.

1. It has serious competition

2. It plays in WWII

3. Many gamers will stay with Call of Duty 4 (thx to the excellent MP)

4. It's made by Treyarch

5. It's NOT called Call of Duty "5"

I probably have gone a bit over the top (well I have......) but I must say I don't think either of those will have an impact. Most people don't realise it is made by different people. Will the 5 matter? I dont think so. WaW will be on the new this week shelves, so it will be clear that it is the new game, and it will probably have follow up to CoD 4 somewhere on the packaging

World at War will not be purchased by me, because I find the level of violence to be over the top and gratutitous in a way the previous COD games were not.

Just because you CAN show realistic deaths by flamethrower in slow motion does not mean you SHOULD show them.  The trailer this week that showed NO MERCY!  NO RULES! while slow motion stabbing, barbecuing, shooting in the face, pummeling with fists - awful.  Kotaku had the above post this weekend, and I couldn't agree more.  I have had a disturbing feeling about this game since I saw the first preview trailer way back around E3.

Nothing about being a hero.  Nothing about saving democracy and the world.  Just killing in gruesome ways - and not in fun cartoony ways - set to a rock song.  It's one thing when it's aliens and space marines, but it's another when it's real situations, made realistic in appearance, from a real war.

I don't like it and I won't buy it.
So that's one COD4 buyer who won't buy this one.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

That's why I've put these 2 reasons at the last position :P
