Metal Gear Solid 4 Wins this Hands down.

I know you hate wrpgs, but you really should give Fallout 3 a chance, if you like the story in MGS4.

Is F3's storyline thought provoking or deep in any way?

From what I've heard, it's just as awesome and shallow as the MGS storylines are.

 I'm curious as well.

I played the first hour on my 360 (borrowed the game from a buddy of mine) and apart from some 90s style of storytelling (dialogue with robots), not much happend. I'm willing to try and ignore the ancient storytelling if the story is very very very good and intelligent.

Dude... go read a book or something.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

IMO, certainly. It's emotionally gripping.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I think I'm going to get F3. It wasn't even on my radar as there are so many games this year I've planned on buying but Mirrors Edge is turning out to be more of a rental and the impressive F3 reviews and comments have caught my interest. The first two games were pretty decent in the story department with a certain amount of depth to them (I got around to playing them just lately).

Wait...what the-

You can't...

But I...

You...you can't say that! I like that game! And we're not allowed to have the same opinons! It's in the rules or something, and I got there first!

You take that back, young man. Right Now.

Hmmmm

Can we count Mother 3 as a 2008 English release? I mean, it's not official or anything, but...

I really liked the storyline of Fable II... but really, I didn't play very many good "storyline" games this year. Probably one of the worst storylines was in RainbowSix Vegas 2. It was a very short game that seemed pretty unbelievable on the storyline.

Please don't confuse writing with story.  The writing in Fable II is borderline fantastic while the story is borderline generic "you killed one of my loved ones so I will have revenge on you" story.  Fable II's story wasn't that good.

To each their own... I liked it.  I was pretty sure that this was a forum that enjoyed opinions?  Thats why I joined.

Right on Comrade!  and welcome!

Stephen King is awesome. None of the writers you mention could write a book like Stephen King's It. It is one of the greatest American novels of the last half of the twentieth century.

No one can write a coming of age story like Stephen King that captures all of the realities of life of so many desparate kids. Another thing that Stephen King does better than any other writer I've ever read and that is perfectly displayed in It is the way that he captures the spirit of the 1950's with all of its innocent magic that was soon to come face to face with the harsh realities of the sixties, the impending Russian nuclear terror threat as personified to an extent by Pennywise the Clown a Lovecraftian spirit that is also composed of evil parents and civil injustices that strives to corrupt the power of belief.

As those that know understand, Stephen King was the Charles Dickens of his time.

"Ahahahaha, I know this is from way back on page 5 or so, but oh my god you are so wrong. Stephen King, the greatest 20th century American novelist? I can name dozens of better, more important, and less pulpy 20th century American novelists. If you wanted to select the greatest, try Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Kurt Vonnegut, Joseph Heller, William Faulkner... there's plenty of authors you could make a great case for. But Stephen King? Not. A. Chance."

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.
