Forums - Sales - Motorstorm Pacific Rift BOMBED! -- 31K First Week in NA!

The first one never sold well in NA, the only reason the sales are so high is because of the bundle. Sales had pretty much slowed to a crawl and it was still at 300k, it would have had an LTD around 400k-500k in NA but because of the bundle it went to 1.8 million. That was at a time when PS3 owners were searching for games, things are different now. It's gonna get lost in the shuffle in NA. It'll probably do pretty well in europe.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I played the original once and I really hated it. It was just pure frustration. I am suprised it wasn't a critical(and commercial) flop.

Too much GREAT games, and not so much money.
Motorstorm will do fine during Christmas period in NA, game need just more time. =)
it probably will hit 300-500k before the end of this year in NA alone.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Perhaps it's because the game is essentially MS1 (which a lot of people didn't like... it lacked something (anecdotal)) with added moss.

and Forza 2 is essentially Forza 1 with a different paint-job. See it can go both ways.

Anyways MotorStorm is now apart of the greatest hits which probably cut into sales as people probably think there isnt much difference between the two games and picked up the cheaper one.

As for bundles isnt MSPR bundled in the EU? if so it has a strong chance of sales.

For retail this is a major issue. No retailer now a days seems to actually use sales people to sell a game/product so there is no customer interaction between customer and retailer employee minus say "can you get this game out of the case?"

I'm not sure I'm getting what you're saying. Do you mean the retailers are supposed to educate the customers about the games? Considering the audiences I'd think that would help the Wii's software more than anything.

@Griffin: I just checked Amazon, Gamestop, and Bestbuy (online) and they all have it. You may not be able to find it because there's little demand... games don't really recover from that. Tales of Vesperia iirc had far worse supply issues, notice how little effect it had on its sales.

OT: This won't sell well in America. It has little going for it. If I had to guess, I'd put its max America sales at around Boom Blox (~400k?). If you're hoping it'll do better, wait for its debut in the Others market - racers tend to do better there.

MotorStorm PR >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MotorStrom Original.

I dont care what anyone says rift blows the original out of the water and into oblivion. :P

Oh, and the fact that R2 and LBP came out around the same time/near doesnt really help rift ethier..

I think this is telling of Resistance 2.

I'm not saying it's going to bomb like Motorstorm, just that it's not going to light up the charts in the way that people keep claiming it will. It's the sequel to yet anothe launch/bundle game, who's real selling power can't be assessed yet.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

I kinda figured this would happen. MotorStorm is a friggin' dirt racing franchise. Those never sell very well. The only reason the first sold so well was because it was one of the first good games on the ps3. After Resistance, everyone said "wait for MotorStorm", and many bought it for the graphics alone. Bundles later on helped out as well.
