Forums - Sony - PS3 has lowest console attach rate

@ goddog

id have to say the closest thing is the peripheral sales reports which have put nintendo as king with MS a close second. but you are right there need to be more well defined reports,

It's likely so far more peripherals have been sold for the 360 than for the PS3 even when taking equal timeframes, the PS3 has Wi-Fi, harddrive, HD movie support, etc by default.

you know i wasnt even considering thoughs types of things. but i havet to say wifi for home consoles is a waste and will continue to be... i do agree that all 360s should have hard drives, but its not like 60% of sales are core/arcades, (though i hope to god they are fazed out with next october price break)

sony has a second type of controller you had to buy after killing off its launch controller, no other console has that kinda ripoff

Hd movie support is a perk, and if you want that cool. but hd movies in the disk format are going to be religated to lazerdisk type life, unless something amazing happens in the next year. holding only 12% of the top 20 sales is nothing to crow at.

honestly netflix for both will sell more, and if the put the itunes store on both it would sell more hell even a custom ps3 store from sony and ms store form ms would sell more hd content

What it will be is not relevant, because it's not more social now...

What do you actually miss so much?

Requiring all your internet enabled friends to pay extra for a Microsoft subscription to be able to play games together is IMO an anti-social approach. I got a free month of XBox Live gold, but it was not worth it to me, I wouldn't be pressured by Microsoft to subscribe, for something which IMO is nothing really special.

I got rid of Warhawk

It's hard, but IMO really amazing once you get the hang of it. Much unlike any other 3D shooter out there due to the Warhawks.

If I knew more people on the PSN and didn't constantly find myself playing alone on it, I'd probablly be a little more generous to it. But the fact of the matter is, all of my friends are on LIVE, and I've been playing with the same guys since the original XBOX.

Playstation Home will be a great place to meet similar minded people. For me it's the other way around, I know many more people with a PS3 (friends and family members).

No need, my Sixaxis controller functions well enough for all games so far. If rumble couldn't be turned off I actually wouldn't have bought a DS3 controller, I hope Resistance 2 will include good (hopefully subtle/smart) support though.

@Comrade

Well the problem is all your friends are on XBOX LIVE, therefore you have no one to play with on PSN that you know personally, you cant just say

"OH MY FRIENDS ARE ON XBL, AND THATS WHY ITS BETTER" because if your friends were on PSN im quite sure it would be alot different just like it is for me..

While playing an online game, hit the Playstation button, the XMB comes up, go to friends and select "Players Met". Here you will find a list of all the people you just met online and you can send them a friend request.

A) It's not really anti-social to pay for a social tool.  I pay $200.00/month for my two cell phones, which are no doubt the most social tools in our lives.  But please don't get me wrong, I wish it were free.  All I am saying is that LIVE is worth the subscription costs, and if Sony makes the PSN better, I'd be willing to pay for that too.

B) That's true on the Warhawk thing... I could see it admirable qualitites, I just couldn't get into it.  But I've got enough good shooters already to keep me busy, so it's all good.

C) To each his own I suppose... Like I said, for me, LIVE is better because I have been playing with the same guys for about 6 years.  Had the PS2 had the PSN, than I might have more friends on it.  It was actually pretty smart by Microsoft to release LIVE with the original XBOX.

But then again, had my PS2 DVD drive not died on me, and had I not been ignored by Sony when I called them about the issue, I probablly never would have bought an original XBOX to begin with.

Actually, that's kind of funny really... because had my XBOX 360 not RROD'd on me, I never would have used my PS3 as a gaming machine and bought the 3 games I've bought for it in the last 3 weeks.  The moral of the story?  Broken hardware sucks. LOL

No, if you read my previous posts, you'd see that my reasons are much more than that... it's just one of the reasons (and it would take too long to repost all of them... and really would be kind of repetitive).

But I do agree that if I had more friends on the PSN I'd probablly enjoy it more.  I suppose that goes without saying.  But it wouldn't change the attributes that makes XBOX Live a more popular service than the PSN (and I assure you I am not alone in this).

Well, there is a way to do it, I just find it a less attractive interface for doing it.  That's mainly why LIVE is better... it's easier and more user friendly.

But I will state again, that if the "new" XBOX Live experience stinks as much as I think it may, I will quickly change my mind and change my vote of confidence over to the PSN.

For me, it's a little frustrating, because there is so much to love about my PS3... I really think it's the superior gaming machine and will have a much longer shelf life than the competition (and wow, what an awesome Blu-ray player and upconverter it is!) but I remain torn because of my dislike for the PSN.
