I must admit that i ve never liked nintendo brand and all that kind of games, but i ve always appreciated some games like zelda and mario.

 Waht does this mean?

OT: I dont get why Titanic raked in USD 600 million at the US box office, but I didn't whine about it... I went and saw another movie.

Elaine: I will never understand people

Jerry: They're the worst.

I look them seriously because in this period i'm writing my phd thesis in sociology and videogames are one of the topic of the thesis (it's about mass communication)

Thanks for all (almost) your answers..i'm listening carefully to your opinions

Thank you killergran, your answer is well articulated and very interesting.

You're writing a phd thesis involving videogames and you can't understand why the most entertaining and revolutionary console since the NES is doing well?

Diagnoses: fun deprivation

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I hope it's not too offensive of me to doubt the OP's intentions and story.

I think at 35, people tend to understand that different games and experiences appeal to different folks. Also, someone of that age whose been a life-long gamer should know that a game system will have a multitude of different types of games on it -- if you don't like Wii Sports, that's fine, but you don't therefore conclude that there must be nothing worthwhile on the Wii. Also, if you are a 35 year old, and a life-long gamer, but you've always avoided the Nintendo label because, for whatever asinine reason, you don't like their products... then you'd already know why you don't like the Wii, and you wouldn't be questioning your love of video games & asking strangers for their advice on the matter. Also, someone whose "dedicated [their] life to videogames" since the late 70s shouldn't let, say, Wii's graphical capabilities get in the way of their having fun very much. Pac-Man's still Pac-Man, and still fun, and hardcore gamers from back in the day should feel me on that.

In short, I don't buy it. This guy doesn't sound at all like a 35 year old to me, let alone one with a lifetime of videogame love.

I'm in your same boat TC, I grew up playing all sorts of games, then moved unto PC gaming, and back to console gaming

I own both the Wii & PS3, and I haven't touched my Wii for atleast a month or so...

For me its more about the way its played... I bought it because of its motion controller, but now thats why I dont play it

When I feel lazy, thats when I game... and I really dont like moving my arms around, i want to sit back on a couch with a controller in my lap, being as lazy as I possibly can

I have 200+ Wii Games, and only a few of them I could really play a lot, the others I just got real sick of

i love the Wii, but id much rather game on a 360/PS3 :/

i'm quite impressed by that.. i don't think there is 100 games total this gen on consoles worth owning.. let alone 200+ on the wii alone

Wow what a waste of a phd sociology subject.

Gamers are less likely to communicate outside of the internet, besides that its usually just nerd rage.

There are a ton of great games on it. A lot of people here wouldn't know a great game if it him them in the face. They prefer to hype games rather than play them.

Paper, Radiant, Sin, Galaxy, Princess, Brawl, Kart, Blox, Prime, Blob, Heroes, Wiki, and 4 are all killer AAA games. If I had to live without playing them, I dunno if I'd shit or go blind.

Now, there is a lot of talk about how casual gamers buy all the Wiis. I think it's actually a much larger core split than anyone wants to admit.

That said, casuals also have a huge list of games they love, so the Wii is a console for everyone, just as it set out to be, and a console for everyone sells way more than a console for a niche group.

Is that making any sense?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Nice concern trolling.

You haven't mentioned once that you've actually played a game on the Wii.

Way to go there sport. It's kids like you that will be the death of video gaming.

I blame Wii Fit.

You will get a lot of answers, but the main one is because there is really only one console out there for kids 12 and under right now... the wii!

There are a ton of young gamers and the hd consoles might be a lot to handle for what could in many cases be their very first video game console.

We grew up with games, so the choice is simple.... play the best.

But to a much larger audience the choice becomes... play what you can, play what doesn't use 2 analog sticks (this throws a lot of new comers off), and play what your parents will buy you for Christmas.

These people dont own cars, they cant even get into a PG-13 movie in many cases.

These are the consumers of the Nintendo wii.

in addition to wat ultraslick said, besides kids, women are also becoming the main consumer of the wii.

Lots of females frens of mine, which are not interested in gaming in the previous generations, suddenly they bought a wii this generation because to them, those controllers and games of xbox and ps are always too complicated and hard to play. but wii make gaming accessible to anyone with common sense.

n boy oh boy if you manage to penetrate the women's market, it means that u are guarranteed big money!! look at the shops out there, 80% of them are selling women's goods! women love shoppin ma fren ;)

^^MattAAron must be some guy who collects games just for the hell of it.

Seriously, 200 Wii games? That's Maybe £7000-8000 spent on games. I wish I had that much cash!
