Alright so I got this idea from from the thread about closing songs. Which soundtrack do you feel is the best?

After playing a lot of video games the game whose music ALWAYS comes to mind is Metroid Prime, with its Phendrana Drifts, Chozo Ruins, and title music I always think of it when I think good video game music. The rest of the soundtrack is equally as good, it just hasn't stuck in my memory as those 3 tunes have.

Eh, I'm pretty biased towards these, but I loved Earthbound's and Mother 3's. The Store theme from Earthbound is so upbeat, it seems like most of the music is. There are just so many different songs in Mother 3 it's amazing, that and the Rhythm battles really let you get into the music.

I really like Chrono Trigger's too. It seems to always fit the mood just right.

This might be cheating, since it has music from pretty much every Nintendo franchise.. but Smash Bros Brawl (grand total of 312 songs)

Aside from that, from games this gen I'd have to give the best original soundtrack (ie. not licensed) to Super Mario Galaxy, if only for Gusty Garden Galaxy

I forgot to mention the underwater frigate song in MP, that also really sticks out. Retro really nailed the music in MP.

Chrono Trigger, for me , had the best sound track for a game, maybe closely followed by Link to the Past. The overworld theme is individually the best track for me in any game

Oh oh oh! I completely forgot about A Link to the Past's Overworld theme. Absolutely awesome. I also enjoy the Dark World's theme too.

Yeah, I'm going to go with Tabsina on this one, at least when it comes to Super Mario Galaxy (Brawl is just cheating ).

Gusty Garden Galaxy, Good Egg Galaxy, Battlerock Galaxy, Rosalina's Observatory, Bowser's theme... all amazing.

Metroid Prime 3 is another great choice. SkyTown is especially memorable.
