Forums - Nintendo - Capcom gives some numbers about Okami and Dead Rising

Well acording to Capcom the Wii version of Okami is the best selling verion, but still NOT enought for such a great game:

06.11.08 - Capcom hat einige Software-Verkaufszahlen seiner Spiele bekanntgegeben, die im ersten Halbjahr (01.04.08 - 30.09.08) des aktuellen Geschäftsjahres (01.04.08 - 31.03.09) erreicht wurden.

- Okami (Wii)
  USA: 210.000 St.

Nice ... but still...

wow thats good... yeah it deserves more, but it wasnt ever gonna sell much better as a port of a game that sold so poorly in the first place

I forgot to put this. Check Capcom's predictions for some games including Dead Rising:

Geplante Absatzzahlen von Capcom

06.11.08 - Capcom hat geplante Verkaufszahlen für einige seiner kommenden Spiele bekanntgegeben, die weltweit erreicht werden sollen.

- Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360): 3,25 Mio. St.
- Street Fighter IV (PS3, Xbox 360): 1,7 Mio. St.
- Bionic Commando (PS3, Xbox 360): 1,5 Mio. St.
- Dead Rising Chop Till You Drop (Wii): 500.000 St.

That is bloody amazing actually. That a port of a game released to a userbase of 30m (many 'kids, soccer moms and old folks') could outsell the original sold to a userbase of 120m - including all the core gamers.

Okami deserves more of course but that's a great result really and justifies the decision to port it.

Someone should port Psychonauts now. Just because.

They are expecting to sell 1.7 million SF4 on each console? Or both? And in how much time?

About Okami, I think USA sales are good, but Europe are really low.

Castlevania Judgment FC:     1161 - 3389 - 1512

Okami sales are much better than I expected. And much better than it deserved (considering how Capcom did everything to make it flop).

More proof that 3rd party games DO SELL. I just hope Dead Rising sell more than they expected like RE: UC to show the proof that Wii owners buy core games same as they buying casual games.

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

selling more than the original has to be a smashing success, there is no other way to put it. It still deserves more but many games do.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

i think it's "shipped" number, because my bestbuy has truckload of Okami Wii version in the back.

Right answer, wrong reason.

Capcom almost always just gives "shipped to retailer" numbers, rather than sold to customers. Still, I haven't seen very many copies in the wild here in the Bay Area, so I'm thinking it did well-enough for Capcom (but not well-enough for a sequel).
