I'm pretty sure it has already been discussed to death. That was 'over 3 million' for MGS4 and 3.94 million for the entire franchise in that document (page 4 and 5) :
“METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS” shipped over 3 million units worldwide

Notice that the numbers are for the period : (Apr –Jun 08)

And given that, in the latest financial report (Page 6), they give 4.33 million for the entire franchise (period : Apr – Sep 08, so including the 3.94 from the previous report), I can affirm without a doubt that the 4.22 million for MGS4 alone, just above, is pure bulls***.

So it does seem like the game shipped over 4 million by now, unless that last line all of a sudden is about the whole brand.

No, you're right, I missed that line. But I still don't get where the 4.22 million figure comes from.

Funny enough, if MGS4 has shipped above 4 million, and the Metal Gear Series 4.33 million, that leaves only 300k for the other titles. If I report that to the figures in the previous report - 3.94 million for the series as of June 08 - that would make then around 3.6 million copies shipped for MGS4 alone. That sure is "over 3 million units shipped". I'm really not used to companies understating their achievements. :)

Rumour has it that the boss is currently working on an article titled "Sales Tracking 101".  Reading and examination of, will be a compulsory part of the sign up process.

im pretty sure the metal gear in their report only counts for mgs4 or mostly mgs4. they should just make it more clear. as of now its on 4.33. must have sold atleast 4 million by now.

its confusing, they aint making it clear but im guessing its just MGS4 there talking about.

Unfortunately, some people still either won't read or acknowledge the what these numbers mean.
