PS3 has sold extremely well for its super high price tag compared to its competiton, I can't even imagine how insane the numbers will be when the price gets even lower.

wow, 100 million by 2012, highly doubtful. That means that Sony would have to sell 80 mil (assuming PS3 is at 20 mil by the end of the year) in 4 years. 20 mil a year, yea thats not happening.

Well it will be 2010 with the next generation of consoles on the horizon, it will have very few exclusives (compared to what the PS2 had), and some of its most valueable features will be available in far less expensive packages. In other words it will have difficulty maintaining its current sales level even though it receives price reductions.

So after the NEXT presidential election, then? :p

When that happens, what do you think the price of the competition will be? It is highly unlikely that the PS3 will make it to $200 until 2010 at best (I'm thinking they'll be lucky to have a $100 drop next year, and then another the year after).  I'm guessing the 360 Core will be $99, entry price BR players for even less, and Wii's will be able to be purchased with spare change.

Moreover, there is a very good chance that the NextBox and Ninteno Yoo will be prepping for launch, so no one's going to much care how a last gen system is doing.

As I've said many times, if Sony pulls ahead of the 360 it will very likey be a SNES type scenario in which it occurs because the competition has moved on, and no one is paying attention any more.
