PS3 is doomed. >_>

Nah, in fact the 360 is keeping it alive and well (and vice-versa). Unless you're Sony you should be pretty happy about the PS3.

Well they already said that they wont drop the price so that wont happen and i dont think they lost Europe ps3 is still selling good.

If we can get past the fanboy slant to this issue (although you'll see my posts generally in favour of Sony over MS), Europeans don't like being ripped off any more than Americans, and since the 360 price cut, a lot of us are feeling ripped off by Sony prices.

In the US, the 360 Elite and PS3 are both at $399. In the UK, the 360 Elite is £220, while the PS3 is £290.

Although the exchange rates have changed significantly in the last month, it's pretty easy to see that MS was charging us around the same as the US, while Sony was overcharging by a long way.

£50 off the PS3 would bring it into line with other regions pricing.

A £50 discount would make it significantly cheaper than in the US.

400 € includes VAT, assume an average VAT of 20% and that's 333 € which is $429. Not much more expensive than in USA.

In UK it's £300, right? At 17.5% VAT that's $407 before tax, very close to the American price.

NJ5, since (at least IMO) you´re always reasonable with your predictions, I ask you....do you see the PS3 and the 360 achieving at least 40 million LTD sales by the end of 2011?

This week's sales just reflect the pops that the 360 is getting in Europe from Gears 2 and Fable II; however, it will only last there for one to two weeks because of the fact that there are muchj better games on the PS3 this holiday season.

LBP = 95; Resistance 2 = 95, Valkyria Chronicles = 91.
Gears 2 = 95, Fable II = 88, Banjo 3 = 83.

The PS3 selling 92,000 units in Europe this week is much better than the 360's normal sales there, yet quite normal for the PS3, and you will see the PS3 selling over 10,000 more units in each week than the 360 in that territory within the next three weeks (just as almost it did last week).

So, the PS3 is still doing great in Europe. It doesn't need a price cut there. But if they totally want to stomp the 360 into the ground in that territory, I guess they could have one.

Oh and people need to stop bashing darth: he can state his opinion. Besides it's absolutely ridiculous to call him anti-Sony.

Sadly for some people being realistic means anti-Sony. Get a life.

OT: This is PS3's 3rd Xmas and 360's 4th. If PS3 loses this holiday season I don't see them catching the 360 ever.

Actually in Europe its ps3 2nd xmas.

If scores would sell consoles N64 would have been the best sold system ever and Wii the worst.

Sorry, the average consumer doesn't have a clue about scores. They see two consoles with the same games and will pick the cheapest.

Benga, how´re you doing?

Hey, see my question to NJ5, a few posts above yours?

I´d appreciate if you´d take a guess :0

In this holiday season (Nov+Dec) both should sell more than 4 million, according to the rule of about 40% of a year's sales happening in the holiday season.

After that, the 360 would need to sell about 13.2 million (i.e. 4.4 million per year) and the PS3 19.6 million (6.5 million per year). I think both can do it, but the PS3 won't pass it by a lot if it gets there.

As always, there are many factors which could disturb this... a casual hit on either console (this is a hard one considering the Wii), a start of the next gen, or the deep shit the world economy is in starting to affect console sales.

(thanks for the compliment btw. my predictions were pretty bad when I first joined vgchartz, hopefully they're getting better)
