If we can get past the fanboy slant to this issue (although you'll see my posts generally in favour of Sony over MS), Europeans don't like being ripped off any more than Americans, and since the 360 price cut, a lot of us are feeling ripped off by Sony prices.

In the US, the 360 Elite and PS3 are both at $399. In the UK, the 360 Elite is £220, while the PS3 is £290.

Although the exchange rates have changed significantly in the last month, it's pretty easy to see that MS was charging us around the same as the US, while Sony was overcharging by a long way.

£50 off the PS3 would bring it into line with other regions pricing.

A £50 discount would make it significantly cheaper than in the US.

400 € includes VAT, assume an average VAT of 20% and that's 333 € which is $429. Not much more expensive than in USA.

In UK it's £300, right? At 17.5% VAT that's $407 before tax, very close to the American price.
