HD-DVD was so last year ago. It got thrashed by Blu-ray. The Dark Knight will sell well on both platforms of DVD and Blu-ray though.
not even close. iron man did 500k on blu-ray first week while dvd did 7.2 million.
Looking at iron man numbers you can see your predictions are probably too high, although i do expect dark knight to have higher sales than iron man.

as for DVD...well, let me just say, I will be buying the blu-ray version myself on the first day.

I myself will be picking up a blu-ray copy as my first blu-ray movie purchase. 
knowing that hd-dvd is no longer being made from warner, i would have to say blu-ray
