It had double the pre-orders of The Orange Box a few weeks ago, selling like crap? I think not.

Infinitely replayable, 4 player co-op shooter, with zombies, and you can play as zombies as well? Custom content on PC, and new content from Valve on PC and 360 regularly?

Totally beats Gears. Gears 2 is just an improvement, nothing revolutionary.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Tough choice indeed... the blockbuster effect of Epic vs the experimental creativity of Valves .

I'll get both anyway. I'll play Gears 2 for that hype effect and get Left4dead for that special flavor you get in every Valves games.

But on the sales side, Gears will win ...



 

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

What sucks is I can't play L4D online because of my Hughesnet connection, so I'll be playing with bots, on steam where I can get the game cheap.

No, it's a great game, but it's not Gears. I say Gears of War 2, but R2 does have a shot.

I guess it should be "Shooter of The Year on Xbox 360" then. Of course, Gears 2 will be shooter of the year as well, but I wager that Resistance 2 has an equal or better chance than Left 4 Dead

People have mentioned R2, but it's not in the OP.
