Uh oh.  I tried to fire up Fable II, and was greated with the "Unreadable disc" prompt.  Two more tries. Nothing.  I toss in CoD 4 and DOA Xtreme 2 (shut up).  Still unable to read a disc.  I toss in a CD and a DVD.  My fears are confirmed.  My 360 Disc drive must be shot!!  I try everything.  Finally, I turn the console vertical and it works!!!

I'm having PS1 deja vu!  I'm scared to play the thing now, because Gears 2 is almost upon us.  If it's going to break, I want my 360 to taste Gears of War 2 before it dies!!  So, how much is this gonna cost me, and how long do I have to wait?

I agree... dont let yourself sucked in Gears 2 just so the damn thing break down on you ;)

Mine froze last Xmas and was fixed and returned in 8 days free of charge.

Don,t know if you are covered under warranty or not.

 But...but....the AWESOME!!  I gotta be there on day one!!!!  If it cuts out by Tuesday, I'll send it off.  Heck, I may buy a 360 Arcade.  One thing is for sure:  I'm going to buy a couple 3rd party games on the PS3.  I got too many eggs in one basket!

Bad timing, I though disc read error's were the PS2's plight? I went through 2 of them because of it (one refused to read discs all together, the other would not read the blue ones)

Get your console fixed now, and if anything you may miss just a few days of Gears goodness.

Did you check his sig? Since he has a PSN ID listed, he probably already has one. Well that and he says: "One thing is for sure:  I'm going to buy a couple 3rd party games on the PS3."

Anyway, that sucks. My old core 360 sometimes had trouble reading discs. For the most part it would be fine and occasionally it would just throw me back to the 360 menu with an error. I never did bother getting it repaired though.
