Forums - Nintendo - I'm pretty sure the Wii can handle many NPCs

The Wii is stronger than the GameCube right? (Right.)

So if the Gamecube could handle this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG0ZicLI40g&feature=related

(Go about 2:00 into the video)

and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl_YHaQTrPI (Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess:Scaring People of Town)

I think the Wii can handle several more. Maybe Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop shows the limit, although I hope not. The NPCs obviously aren't important, but for the sake of argument......

I could go into a long speil but I think this will do fine:

THEY'RE DIFFERENT GAMES DOING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS.  NOT EVERY GAME IS THE SAME.

Did I say they had anything in common? I just showed 2 GC games with a noticable NPC presence. I don't see what you are getting at.

Wow, so you found 2 games with a lot of NPC's!?  Whoop-dee-fucking-do.

I could probably find 50 games with more NPC's roaming around than what we've seen in Dead Rishing: Chop Till You Drop, it really doesn't matter because, again, they're different games running in different engine doing different things.

A simple NPC entity is much more simple than an actual AI entity (even a simple zombie one).

The Dead Rising: CTYD engine was not made to support mass amounts of NPC's.

People seem to think it's the same game from 360, when in fact it's technically more similar to RE4.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

All those have are morons running around like idiots, in the first one people run through cars! I assume that Dead Rising will have the enemies moving in different patterns, chosing different ways to jump down on you, etc. That's a lot harder. You cannot really compare it this way, because they're very different games.

Edit: Looks like I was beaten to it.

Actually, Dead Rising deliberately makes most of the enemies be completely mindless. That's exactly what makes the game fun. The zombies in particular just stand there until something you (or someone else) does "triggers" them, at which point they slowly shuffle straight towards you, with no real strategy or variety. They're imminently predictable.

That's the beauty of the game: the zombies are borderline harmless, even comical, 95% of the time because they're completely stupid. Heck, the entire camera concept was there precisely so you could stand still and nonchalantly snap pictures.

Mind you, if you play around so much that you let yourself get surrounded, things start to get a little more interesting...

Oh, I didn't know that was how it was. Nevermind my post then.

???

I wasn't bragging that I showed 2 games. I only said what I just did, and that was show games with NPC presence. I'm aware that the concept behingd NPCs isn't concrete because different characters have different functions. In Dead Rising, it would be different from Freedom Fighters because those in FF had no specific functions but run. Dead Rising's NPCs have AI.

I'm not doubting there are games with more NPCs than DR, or your ability to find them. I just don't get why you feel the need to sound so...hostile.

C'mon, did I really deserve a whoop-dee-fucking-doo? It makes me sound like an idiot.

Because I love the term whoop-dee-fucking-do.

Let's wait. When the game goes gold, we'll get an idea of what that game pushes. Until then, what's the point, other than working ourselves up over schrodinger's cat?

Somebody's been watching too much Big bang Theory. High five!

Don't really watch that show. Sheldon really gets on my nerves. I'm more of a philosophy student.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Blasphemy! BBT is damn good. You should give it another shot, especially if you already have a vested interest in the subject matter.

Sheldon uses the Schrodinger's cat example to help Penny along with her conflict of whether dating Leonard will ruin their friendship or be something greater because they can date now. Best episode of the show yet. You should check it out if you get a chance. It's the season one finale.

It's also that I'm not much of a TV watcher at all anymore.
