Forums - Nintendo - Quick question about Zack & Wiki...

Hey everyone. Some of you might remember my thread a while back about if I should buy Zack & Wiki or not. Well, I did, but I haven't tried it yet. Now here's my question...

Fairly often, I play games at the same time as I watch DVDs and such on my computer, since my TV and computer are right next to one another. I have a hard time staying satisfied while doing only one thing at a time. Anyway, I need to know if sound is important in Zack & Wiki. I don't just mean if it has good music, but I mean, are there any dialogue-based cutscenes? Are there any puzzles that relate to sound?

Short and easy, will I miss anything if I have the sound put relatively low, and putting most of my "hearing focus" to the TV show instead?

To answer your question; Yes, it is one of the best games of this generation.

And now I can read your post.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Sound is important to some puzzles, but for the most part, I'd suggest not watching TV just because it's such a thinking based game. It's always challenging your mind directly. When blasting aliens, TV works, but you may find it's mostly just a distraction on a game like this.

I don't remember sound being integral to the game, but come on man, you're missing out on part of the immersion! I think sound is extremely good in games, and it really sets the mood. A great soundtrack will automatically bump the game up to great heights for me.

But like I said, I don't remember any sound puzzles. I haven't played the game in a while though, so I could easily be forgetting something.

Don't get me wrong, I can get pretty immersed anyway... I know it sounds hard to believe, but I'm telling you, I'm just a multitasker sort of person.

I can't remember any sound based games, to be honest, so you'll probably be fine. There are a few bonus sections where you have to shake the Wiimote in time to a song, but there are enough visual cues there that you should be okay (and those times are few and far between).

I know, but I think Z and W is a specific case. There's almost never a moment where your attention isn't entirely required. It's a lot different than a game where you take a few seconds to figure out what to do, and then just react to visual stimuli. I really don't see TV working to well while your brain is screaming "WHAT THE HELL DO I DO NOW!?

Alright, thanks a lot. I'll start up Z & W then :)

Not trying to insult you but do you really have the attention span of a gnat? What happens when you have to do something like read a book?

And while I don't think there are any sound based puzzles, I still couldn't imagine playing this game and watching a movie because while early puzzles are simply but later ones will really have you thinking.

Not trying to insult me? Well, you're doing a good job of hiding it.

Hardly. If I had the attention span of a gnat, I would quit right away. As I said, I'm a multitasker. I do lots of things at once, but I devote attention to several at once as well. Might be hard to get around since a lot of people have a hard time multitasking seriously, but I'm just made that way. It's nothing I can just turn on or off. When I read a book, if said book is really good, I can get really into it. But I mostly just read books when I'm on my way somewhere, on the bus or such, since I rarely feel like restritcing myself to just reading when I have other options.

I realize you couldn't imagine playing this game and watching a movie at the same time, but could you atleast open your mind to the possibility that others could? Seriously, could you be any more closed-minded? :x
