Forums - Nintendo - Embarassed lifelong Nintendo fan admits he's getting bored with his Wii.

I've come to a difficult realization.  After owning (and loving) every single Nintendo console ever made, I think I've started to grow bored with my Wii.  Don't get me wrong, I've had plenty of fun with it including playing and/or beating all of the mandatory Nintendo fanboy titles such as Mario Kart, Zelda, Mario, Paper Mario and Metroid and some decent 3rd party stuff such as Medal of Honor Heroes 2.  I've played countless other titles as well, but I've pretty much hit a wall.  I'm interested in Punch-Out and the Conduit coming up, but that's about it for the forseeable future.  Basically, the only time I find myself playing anymore is when my 4 yr. old son wants to play or watch me play.  I'm far more interested in my PS3 right now and have actually considered dumping the Wii for a 360 even though I don't trust the hardware.  I don't know what the hell is wrong with me.  I hate to admit it, but for as popular as the Wii is, it really isn't much different than the Gamecube or the N64 in that the 1st party stuff is excellent, but the selection of quality software made by someone other than Nintendo themselves is lacking.  I actually feel that Nintendo is no longer marketing towards me anymore.  There aren't enough words to describe how uninterested I am in things like Wii Fit and Wii Music.  I don't even like Wii Sports.  ***SIGH***  Sorry if this pisses anyone off.  I used to think people were just being an ass when they said they were sick of their Wii, but I'm here to tell you that it happens even to the biggest of us life-long Nintendo fans.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

So you have a 4 year old who likes the Wii and you want to get rid of it to buy a 360? Perhaps I have that wrong but if so then why??? Just get a 360 as well...don't get rid of the Wii just because you are losing interest at the moment, clearly others are enjoying it. How would you like your wife/GF to sell your PS3 to buy more Wii games to play with your 4 year old?

If you've decided it's not your thing and the PS3 by itself isn't doing it for you either then get a 360 as well...simple really.

Personally I've never owned a console that didn't lose my interest at least once during it's lifetime...PS2, GC, NES, SNES, etc...etc...it happens. Personally it hasn't happened with the Wii for me yet, but I'm sure it will at some point.

Out of curiosity what Wii games do you own currently? Have you tried some WiiWare games out like World of Goo? There are a ton of gaming options currently so make sure you've explored them before you sell the console.

To Each Man, Responsibility

I get the feeling that the inevitable lists of quality third-party games won't convince you to keep it, so just sell it and get a brand new 360.

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

OK, so what type of games are you expecting from the Wii? Any particular genres?

This is one of the problems with owning/buying a console which only had released or very new and different.

Yeah, you should sell your Wii and wait till next year and wait for good third party games to come. The real year for the Wii...

WHY ARE YOU CONSIDERING GETTING A 360 IF THE STUFF ON THE PS3 INTERESSTS YOU?

The grass is not necessarily greener on the other side ...

The vast majority of good XBox 360 games are released on the PS3 aswell, and the few exclusive games tend to be very similar to what is available on the PS3 already. If you have the free time to play 2 to 4 games a month you might see some benefit to buying an XBox 360 when you already own a PS3, otherwise you're really not gaining that much.

Although I'm with Sqrl that it does seem a little selfish to sell the system your child does play, which actually has good games you could play together with him, in order to buy a toy for yourself ...

Everyone grows bored with there console eventually, its human nature, and also buy a 360 or a PS2 since there dirt cheap!

If I only hada Wii and if I was single it would have been a mistake. But My wife love it and my 4 years old son, too. For me, it its the system more capable of satisfaying a wide variety of tastes in videogames. Don´t sell it. Save some money and buy a 360 also. Or look for more ps3 games for you only. But the Wii games for your taste are on the way.

So yeah, I admit the nintendo isn't making games for me only anymore. I have to share the system with more people of differente tastes.
Buy a 360? Yeah, go for it.
Buy more ps3 only for you, do it.
Sell yor Wii? Don't you wanna share your love for videogames? do you want to play alone?

I think the OP have the same situation as mine, just look at my videogame collection. And if you think Im satisfied with all the games think again. Most of the games there I've already finished or Im tired of playing and I still want more.

But there'll be a time that there are too many games we like and overflowing on the Wii next year that we cant choose what games do we want to buy, same with DS. The TGS and October conference was only a tip of the iceberg, I can feel it...
