Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony prostituting HOME beta for quick buck?

http://badcontroller.blogspot.com/2008/10/qore-episode-06-home-beta-update.html

"Did you get this email? PLAYSTATION(R) UNDERGROUND(TM)

As an update to the PLAYSTATION(R)3 News email sent on Friday, October 24th, the special invitation to PlayStation(R)Home's closed beta is available only to Qore annual subscribers who purchased subscriptions by 10/29. Qore Episode 06 purchasers will not be eligible for the special PlayStation(R)Home beta invitation at this time. We apologize for the miscommunication. Participation in PlayStation(R)Home's closed beta is limited to those 18 years and older and requires agreement with the PlayStation(R)Home Beta Trial.

So, only those that pay for an annual subscription to Qore get into Home's closed beta and not those that purchased Qore Episode 06 only. PS3 fanboy's can't be happy about this. Home is suppose to be free, why are they charging to get into the beta? What do you think of this?"

So....

Sony are basically preying on you Home beta hopefulls by asking you for $25 to join in....Sounds more like prostitution to me, what do you guys think?

lol, glad i got in for free!!

Well this is only for the closed beta, there will be an open beta soon. Also, you do get other things for that $25, like other betas and early demos

If they open the closed beta to everyone, they won't have anywhere near enough servers ready yet
Therefore they have to decide based on something

Why not Qore membership?

Just wait, it'll be out soon

You don't have to get into the beta if you don't want to. You can wait for a few weeks.

How is that prostituting? All of the betas have only been available to subscribers.

Big deal, you subscibe to qore, lucky you. You dont, bet you wish you did now.

assumption is the mother of all f**k ups

Like they said in the 80's "membership has it's priveleges".

Surely the problem is that people at first didn't know that you had to subscribe, instead thinking that you just had to buy one episode.

So there was confusion. And no doubt some sucker's gone and bought the episode only to find out they don't get what they thought they got.

Still not prostitution, but it's kinda annoying.

How many Xbox Live Silver members got into the NXE beta?

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

The charges will come after HOME is released, with Micro Transactions for items like furniture or Limited edition Nike Shoes etc.. etc..

Everyone will use micro transactions.
