I am not doubting the 7m, but don't see the connection between "absolutely staggering" and "ungodly" to "7m".

There is no actual number for US/NA preorders. Nevertheless, as I said, Anihawk at NeoGAF stated at his EB/GS had 344 preorders (more than any other games he mentioned preorder numbers for, combined. Including MP3, Bioshock, SMG, SSBB, GH3, GTAIV, and a few others). And again, he stated that was about 80% of H2s preorders. With 2 months left, that'd be real good.
So I would assume that with numbers like that, it should easily pass H2's US install base (6.6m) globally, and should certainly get more. H2 was very fronloaded in the fact it had such a large (by comparison to H1)'s install base. However, even though the X360 has about 2/3rds the Xbox's install base, you don't always need an uber-high install base to keep selling well. H1 managed 5m+ copies, and was a launch title, like many other games.

Halo 3 will do the numbers for sure. It will probably be this years best selling game (even better than GTA3 in my opinion). The hype around this game is too big for it to not sell.

Halo i dont know why i just never liked it that much i finished 1 and 2 but i felt they were abit too short not a bad story just could have added to them abit more apart from that it was a good gaming experience but i wont be buying a 360 for it the console will have to get at least another 20 games i want on it before i invest.
Halo3 looks alright beta was reviewed kinda badly though but that doesnt matter that much.It will sell no doubt about that but i dont think it is being released at the right time there are enough good games coming out this year the 360 doesnt need its so called AAA shooter.The 360 has nearly no exclusives coming out in 08 so it should have been released middle to end of 08 and it would have had alot more sales and alot more hype because it wouldnt need to go against GTA4,Assassains Creed,Eternal Sonata,Mass Effect etc etc etc.
