 Ok, I realize I've been beaten to the punch by half the people here, but when I read that I thought it was really interesting, as to me GTA was the biggest casual game series of the last gen.

So true. They bought a PS2, 3 madden games, and 2 GTA's. THAT was a system seller. Solidified PS2's success.

Edit: The GTA series sold 42M copies on the PS2 WW.

I think the reason most people aren't quite enamored with Halo 3 so far because we really know so little of the single player game. I'm sure we'll still find quite a bit to be impressed with when it comes out, and I'm sure it will still eclipse the sun, feed the homeless and sell many many many consoles.

I guess I'm the only one here who liked Halo. Oh well.

Halo is quite popular around here as being the entry FPS for people, the game enough people had that a multiplayer Slayer match was only ever 15 minutes away.

 The site definately focuses on consoles but to say PC FPS are meaningless when talking about "What is the best FPS?" is pretty silly considering PC is where FPS was born and raised.  Basically what you are really doing is trying to exclude all arguments of the excellent FPS games on the PC in order to make Halo seem better than what it really is. 

Halo is a good series, but it was by no means the best FPS.

Which is why GTA IV going multiplatform was THE biggest hit to PS3's future. People talk MGS and FF, but I look at the past: The GTA series (3 games +1 that only sold 3M) sold 42M copies on the PS2 WW. For comparison, the MGS series (2 games + 2 remakes) sold around 10M on the PS2, with sales declining after each one (GTA series sales increasing). FF series (3 games) sold 18M on PS2 (Though decline was due to change in the style of gameplay,IMO).
