I'll be voting for Obama

Around the Network

I dont think I like the idea of early voting. What if mCCain died tomorrow of a heart attack? What if there are ties proven on Nov 1st that Obama is truly linked to terrorism and al qaeda? Itd be dumb to rush ahead with a vote without making sure you have every ounce of information you can get

I don't know how the CIA works or the FBI, NSA or Homeland Security, but I imagine they must have some power to look over a candidates history. I mean that doesn't make much sense. Especially, with a presidency that is Republican, why wouldn't they want to look up Obama? Besides if it hasn't been 'found out' that he is a terrorist in the 20 months of this campaign, then I doubt that he is one, either that or American intelligence is poor and there is a huge conspiracy! About McCain, yeah he could die. He could die the first day in office as well, that is when the VP takes over.

^^^^ right, but there might be someone to come out of the woodwork to sabotage the campaign in the zero hour. Anything is possible

Early voting is more about making voting convenient for everyone than anything else.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. I understand that, Akuma. It makes sense for specific people, but not for everyone to have such ability. It should be used sparingly, like absentee voting. The problem with everything these days is that we always cater to everyone. No one has it rough, and if they do, they get a pity party thrown for them. It is all this catering that makes Americans weak and whiny, expecting everything hand fed to them. Thus why so many people of the past 2 generations - x and y, are having a hard time being successful. They dont desire it enough, and dont wish to work hard enough to earn anything. But I guess as long as Bob the couch potato's feelings aren't hurt, its ok. Off topic, sure, but it ties into this "conveniencing" of America. If you care, you'd get out and vote, and if you couldnt , get an absentee ballot.

...So you are comparing giving more people the opportunity to vote (which benefits everyone) to welfare and people being lazy?  I really see nothing rational in your argument to justify getting rid of early voting.

If McCain dies, what difference does it make.  He loses.  And if you really think something about Obama is going to surface that he is/was/supports terrorism, you are deluding yourself.

I only have one question - if you are the omnipotent one, why haven't you won lotto yet? I'm not saying its GOING to happen, Im saying that anything is possible. Whatever. My point is that election day seems useless if everyone can just vote whenever the hell they feel like it.

Ultimately it doesnt matter, both candidates are f**k ups that will do nothing to help us out, and this country will only fall into worse times and we will continue to be hated by other nations. Accept it or leave, pretty much.

I know this is an American election thread...

I love voting by anticipation (what Canadians call "early voting"). It is so much faster and it allows me to work/volunteer for a campaign on election day. I'm always worried though that once I have voted by anticipation, I always get a worry that the party I supported will surprise announce a "lets round up the _____ (minority group) and incinerate them" agenda. I know it will never happen, but it is always a thought that lingers in my mind.

Ditto fellow canuck. I vote early and love it. Hey remember when we had that election a while ago? We called the election and then had the election? It took what 1, 2 months?

Hell, with another minority, we might end up with 2 elections in the time it takes the States to have one!

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Just came back from early voting. I took both of my children into the booth with me and my boy was saying 'Vote for Obama, daddy.'

I am thankful for the folks who sacrificed - in wars and in the civil rights movement to give me this opportunity to cast my vote - straight ticket - for CHANGE. I voted for Obama/Biden 08 and boy, do I feel good. It was worth standing in the cold for 15 minutes with my wife and kids.
