Forums - Gaming Discussion - PSM says Fallout 3 better on PC/360 than PS#...ouch!

PC is the Lead Platform

360 has PC like architecture, therefore it will suffer less in translation.

PS3 doesn't therefore it will suffer more in translation, unless it is given special treatment.

This will be par for the course for most games lead on the PC ^_^

REALLY??????????????

Guess what? Remember when you also said... "At least PSM is being honest (9/10 for Fallout 3 PS3 version)."???

So I guess the average rating of Gamerankings for GTA IV PS3 is dishonest because it's higher than GTA IV 360 just becasue you quoted three sources (and I'm sure there's more) and I quoted one (and I'm sure there's more.) See... cherry picking... more fanboyism...

Cherry picking?! Really?!

So what is metacritics.com then doing? Cherry picking? Nope my friend...

You're probably right that MetaCritic isn't cherry picking.  I NEVER said it, I NEVER implied it.  I was referring to you, and you know it because you specificly pick things that are favorable to the 360 while ignoring the other side of the coin.  But like most fanyboys, you try to change the subject because you cannot refute it while it's not about MetaCritic, but you in which I've successful exposed your biasness.

No my friend. I didn't "specificly pick things that are favorable to the 360". Thouse where the only graphical compirations articles I found. If you know more then share with us.

Yes, you are cherry picking.  Remember you said...

"It also win both Bonus Rounds - The Orange Box and GTA IV." ...in regards to GTA IV 360 being better than GTA IV PS3.  And now you are just making excuses because you cannot refute that other sites and sources have said that the PS3 version of GTA IV is graphically superior while the aveage rating is higher.  My successful exposure of your cherry picking is very obvious.  This invalidates your credibility.  Oh, and in regards to comparison...

"On Sony’s side you will get the more slightly more solid game experience from having a good chunk of data loaded onto the systems hard drive. After the install the PS3 has less lighting glitches and less object pop-ups. The PS3 seems to perform a little better than the Xbox 360 which can be an important to rightfully picky."

http://www.extremegamer.ca/multi/reviews/gtaiv.php

"For those who have to decide between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, we should mention that these flaws are slightly less noticeable in the PS3 game."

http://ps3.gamespy.com/playstation-3/grand-theft-auto-iv/869750p3.html

But remember it really doesn't matter beacuse my original point was that most PS3/360 multiplatform games are so close to graphical quality that it really isn't anything to worry about. "Don't make it an issue because it's not. Unless it's some covert way of bashing the competition by cherry picking what favors your console preference..."  And I've proven both points.  You specificly pick the sources that favor the 360, and when someone exposes your blatant biasness, you make excuses.

EDIT: And here is a source that takes a neutral but reasonable stance...

"The Xbox 360 version seems to have a deeper color palette and a little less motion blur/bloom, but the Playstation 3 version seems to have less pop-in and sharper anti-aliasing.  Both versions have a few framerate hits here and there, but it never seems to drop the game into unplayable territory."

http://www.gamingtrend.com/Reviews/review/review.php?ReviewID=1034

ANd another of similar nature...

"The gorgeous visuals are stunning on either the 360 or the PS3, although the PS3's graphics appeared to be slightly sharper with less noticeable texture pop, but both deliver the same experience despite the technical differences."

Personally it doesn't matter if the game has differences which don't effect the user experience.

Resolution, texture detail, texture filtering don't change the user experience that much.

Anti aliasing does to some extent, but those truely anal about it don't play on consoles. If you love AA how could you turn down 8xMSAA on a Radeon 4870 1gb or 16xCFAA with two of them?

So really it boils down to framerates, pop in (textures and whole buildings), and glitches. Luckily point A wasn't a problem in the first place and B/C can be solved by an install with the NXE.

In any case Fallout 3 is probably best played on the PC and best kept on a PC if you're a true fan of the series and want to play it multiple times.

Yeah, I loved Fallout 1 & 2. Anyone remember the joke on Tom Cruise and Scientology?

I *somehow* remember starring in a porn video in the game.

Ahh, good times.

Couldn't agree more, although I'd still probably prefer playing on a console vs. playing on a dated or unstable PC at lower resolutions with reduced quality and/or effects, which is why I'm assuming there is still a market for PC games on console.

Since I'm not, it's a moot point anyway. I like processor intensive effects at higher resolutions and am willing to buy the necessary hardware to see them working.

So it's Fallout 3 on PC for me.

And what I said wrong?
"Thouse where the only graphical compirations articles I found."

Graphical comparisons articles! Not rewies. All of your links are reviews. OK, it is mine mistake that I didn't search in reviews and I accept it. I focus my searching using google for graphical comparisons, cos I was interested in graphical comparisons only and I think articles that focus on graphical side of the game are more important. Reviewers can't measure points or frame rates by their eyes. If you read eurogamer compiration - PS3 wins in both load times and pop-ups, but loose in more other aspects then 360 version. If for you 31.627fps vs 26.504fps is nothing, for graphical comparison it is. As I wrote you - from IGN review "PS3 has better anti-aliasing" is totaly wrong, cos measures proof that PS3 is noAA and 360 is 2xAA.

Anyway case closed.

I think the development architecture for the 360 bodes well for gaming on the 360 in the future, with regard to the next xbox. The cost of development from last gen to this was substantial, and if a developer can minimize the cost increases from gen to gen...that bodes well. And if a developer can easily port over an effort from the PC to the xbox family, that's a HUGE plus. Using weird and difficult to program architecture is not smart engineering, but hey, whatever works for some...or not.

Agree.
Differences which don't effect the user experience are nothing to care about.

The thing I don't like are fanboys, who act like spoiled kids. Bashing the game or developers, just cos version for their platform is a bit lower graphically. Filling the thread with "the devs expect people to pay the same for a gimped version" and "this game is a joke" posts.
