Forums - Microsoft - Why MS Fell Flat at E3: RE5 Was the Megaton

They were busy. In that time, Microsoft have worked on operating systems, web development kits, touch-screen computers, mice, online marketplaces, IM software, office suites, keyboards, programming languages, Oh, and IDEs, software certification standards, computer games, business management systems, server software, compilers, web browsers, news sites and search engines. Also, they've made media codecs, encyclopedias, portable media players, virtualization software, graphics APIs, digital rights managment implementations, road atlases, fonts, application development libraries, security programs, satellite image viewers, TV streaming services and consoles.

Shane Kim worked on all that?  No wonder he forgot.... </sarcasm>

Yes but the game department only works on games. So there is no excuse for his amnesia. If you read the entire article he seems to be clueless about everything game related going on at Microsoft.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Wow, this is disappointing news for me, as the more I am reading the less I want a 360. It sounds like microsoft bought hundreds of games for it's first years, and now their out of steam. Comeon, if RE5 is the best they can throw at us, and then be dumbfound, and have nothing else to give us... What do they have left other than Halo3?

(it is funny tho. Very very VERY funny!)
EDIT: This thread is funny.

I fly this flag in victory!

Please, it's hardly a reason to say "I want a 360 less"

It's bizarre that they forgot, unless Kim's just crazy and only he forgot...

The trailer was still cool though.

If that was the first time we saw RE5, maybe MS's conference would have been considered a bit better...pretty funny stuff hehe.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Umm didn't you see Microsoft's E3 press conference?  There're a few reasons why Sony has admitted defeat for this Christmas season even before it begins and the 360's lineup is one of those reasons.

The system I'm really worried about running out of steam is the PS3.  I mean 3rd party sales have been pretty horrible on it and it's likely that it'll lose the amount of support it has now because many of the big games we're seeing for it were planned when everyone thought the PS3 was actually going to be a hit.  I have to wonder if Sony studios will be able to keep it in the race like Nintendo did with the Gamecube.

I don't think that's the case with regard to the XBox 360. XBox 360 sales are very slow worldwide and the PS3 has a strong line-up for christmas. The Nintendo Wii may be hard to beat for the PS2 this christmas like it did last year. But I think both the PS2 and PS3 may well outsell the XBox 360 this christmas, at least the PS2 has outsold the XBox 360 for every month since the XBox 360's launch.
