Forums - Gaming Discussion - Triple A Games overrated?

Grahamhsu said:

So what do you bright minds of VGChartz think? Has the gaming population in general put Triple A games on a pedestal? Am I simply the odd ball out?

What does that mean?  What makes a game "Triple A?"

Casino Royale was the worst in the series. The plot went nowhere, three people died in the entire 90 minutes and Daniel Craig cannot act.

Hey, Daniel Craig was great! (in Layer Cake)

Yeah, Casino Royale was so-so. As for Brosnan, I loved and still love Goldeneye, but the rest of his Bond movies aren't that great.

The 80's Bond movies weren't very good either. I don't really remember the 70's ones, but the 60's ones were great!

Pierce Brosnan = Best James Bond of all time.

Well I suppose Daniel Craig can act, but he is clearly not James Bond. As I read in an article once, he's too short, too ugly and too blond.

Damn, derail.

AAA or triple A means 90%+.

And cool, I have a philosophy

Craig acts circle around Brosnan and Dalton. Casino Royale had a great plot way more than 3 people died and its the first movie to warrant a direct sequel. Brosnan was too old to play Bond and had an unnatural air about him. Goldeneye was good but the rest were f-ing terrible.

Why are people talking about James Bond?

Well when one review can f#ck the average metacritic review for the game, then Id say the reviews arent fair , example Ratchet and Uncharted both AAA titles, are they considered? No.

I agree with you completely. Also, we shouldn't go by numbers, but rather the text and general tone of the reviews. Might as well go by user-numbers if we're just looking at a number and not the context in which it is presented.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I think that plenty of AAA gamers are overrated. I guess if I were a critic many people would see me as unfair.

You mean those things that gave Fable II an 8.9 and LBP a 6.3? User scores on metacritic are unreliable, the best critic scores are found on IGN, the best user scores are found on Gamespot (by best I mean most accurate- GTA4 has a 9.2 user score on PS3 from gamespot)

Most accurate according to who? Just curious.

@Coolestguyever: You sure you weren't watching Diamonds are Forever? Casino Royale rocked!

1. I'm #1 (had to get that in)

2. Okay why i don't like Casino Royale:

  1. No car chase. He started to drive and almost immediately flipped his car
  2. No gadgets, unless you consider a defibrillator a gadget (sorry for spelling)
  3. AT LEAST 1 hour of the movie was poker
  4. Other than the opening scene where he chases the black guy in the embassy or whatever the building is, theres no other major fights.
  5. Complicated story. In goldeneye the bad guys control a satellite that would "send london back to the stone age". Simple and entertaining. I couldn't even explain the story if someone asked me.
  6. The bond girl isn't even that hot. In the world is not enough its Denise Richards and shes damn fine. Halle Berry in Die another day.

3. The best bond movies in my opinion are the Pierce Brosnan ones. Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Die another Day, The world is not enough.

^ There you go License to Kill proves that Timothy Dalton is indeed the worst Bond actor

I agree with that. I know this sounds stupid but theres just too much violence in the timothy dalton movies.

The ones with Connery/Moore weren't as violent, they had more gadgets, car chases, and other great stuff. License to kill was one of the worst bond movies ever
