Forums - Gaming Discussion - Triple A Games overrated?

Now hold up I'm not saying all Triple A games are overrated and should have their scores lowered. I'm saying in general it seems like the gaming population overrates Triple A games. I see so many people with this idea "If the game doesn't get over 90 on metacritic I'm not buying it."

Which to me is just ridiculous, the games I have the most fun, a good majority of the time aren't TripleA. An example would be EDF, I spent 15 hours on EDF last weekend a game with a 69 on metacritic. All the Katamari games I put hundreds of hours into and even when it comes to RPGs none of my favorite RPGs were Triple A. Lunar Silver Star Story on PS only recieved a 78 on meta, Tales of Eternia is 82 etc. I'm also the type of person that doesn't enjoy watching blockbuster or epic movies as much such as Casino Royale, 300 etc.

So what do you bright minds of VGChartz think? Has the gaming population in general put Triple A games on a pedestal? Am I simply the odd ball out?

Yes, because now or is a 90+ or is a flop

Casino Royale sucked, you mentioned it in your opening.

but back on topic, it seems if a game gets under 80 its a mad flop. And if the game is a highly anticipated sequel (such as gears 2) a 90 is a must or fanboys will start crying.

Don't ask me. I like C games.

If you can't figure out what that means, it's in the same rank as the worst ranked 5M+ seller game has.

The problem nowadays, is that every site has a majority of people who visit it. For instance, a VGChartz reviewer would quite obviously give a slight edge to PsWii games over X360 games, as the X360 has fewer users.

But, that's not really a problem if you have some intelligence. Simply read the review, as that shows the true colours. If they complain about the lack of Mii support in a RPG, or that the title lacks motion controls when the console doesn't support it, you can pretty much strike that of your list.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

@Coolestguyever: You sure you weren't watching Diamonds are Forever? Casino Royale rocked!

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

@Coolestguyever yes I agree I wasn't a fan of Casino Royale and I agree with you and Manuelf's points.

@Oyvoyvoyv What are C games? Also it's not about reviewers I'm complaining about, but the fact that the fans are demanding only Triple A games with high presentation and quality. To me a lot of a game's magic and beauty are lost when a game comes out and it's IN YOUR FACE Triple A BOOMSHAKALAKAH!!! Everything's so epic to the point that the subtle parts of the game seem to be lost.

yup, there are a lot of AAA games out there that are quite overrated.
