I took most of this off of the Chump box 2nd edition, except that I swapped for a different case and mobo(s) (I have a hard time deciding between the two)

That should be everything.... And if you can, tell me if these parts will run the following.

  • Devil May Cry 4- Pretty sure it'll run this
  • Assassin's Creed
  • Gears of War
  • Crysis/ Crysis Warhead
  • Lost Planet
  • Orange Box
  • COD 4

Nice rig man. It reminds me that I'm in serious need of an upgrade.

And the only game you might have trouble maxing is Crysis.

And Lost Planet, just because it's a buggy POS.

Hmmm, that graphic card will be dated in a near future. Wait some more time and try to get some 1 GB dedicated memory graphic card :)

ok realistically its pretty good

umm. I hope you know your still missing parts right... like say a CD/DVD drive. There are 22x DVD drives now. Also BR drives are getting cheaper.

For the price, I'd rate it 7/10. Simply because I think that an E2180 OC will be alot faster than an X2 5200+ for around the same price. Also I'd pay that extra little bit for an ATI 4850 or a 9800GTX+. But you're in the U.S and I'm in Australia, our prices are a bit different.

Also, I've played all those games you've listed, and you'll get 40+ FPS in most of them besides for Crysis. I'm predicting 20-40 at medium settings for that game, which is still extremely playable.

I have a 9600GT as well btw, which means you have a faster graphics card, but you're CPU is slower than mine, so I think my rig is comparable. Depending on what your current rig is at the moment, I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with what you listed. I'm getting a new comp after the new intel CPUs are out.

Check out this list, they are all top rated with decent PSUs. The one you selected didn't have one. Theres the same brand of case in that list (With) PSU.

But heres what I think:

I think you should buy a good case/PSU because they will be with you for a long time if you get it right so you don't have to buy new ones.

The internal components such as HDDs and DVD drives are keepers, you're not gonna just throw those away for a long time, so make sure they are SATA!

All motherboards are going to be obsolete come next year for Intel/AMD anyway, so purchasing an expensive motherboard is silly at this point because by the time you need to upgrade the socket would have become obsolete anyway. So if you buy an old $40 motherboard, sure it performs great and you save $40 which you can put towards the case/PSU/GPU etc which would be more valuable.

What do you want from your computer case? Style? Quietness? Quality?

Tease.

Pretty good, but ditch the AMD and go Intel Core 2 Duo. It's cheaper and has much better performance.

For instance, I have a E6600 that runs at 2.4Ghz and it kicks the 5200+'s butt.

If you wanna spend more money and still want a good deal how about these 3 options.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115052. $120

Combo - $20

Biostar Tforce P43 ATX $90 - $10 Rebate

Total: 210 - 30 = $180.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Combo - $25

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX $120 - $15 rebate

Total $240 - $40 = $200

------------------------------------------------------------------

Combo - $25

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX $137 - $20 rebate

Total $257 - $45 = $212

*The difference is that this model offers Ati graphics card crossfire.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Note the Asus motherboard below for $46 + the CPU with $10 (half of combo reduction) discount would cost you $102 by comparison. You would probably be most tempted by the last Intel combo deal the most since it has crossfire, and that costs $110 more or over double what the AMD combo cost.

The reason why I didn't list them is b/c I already have a spare CD drive, and other parts. I only listed the stuff I needed to buy

I can't recommend any AMD CPU's or nVidia GPu's at this point in time. I would highly advise you to take a closer look at the offerings from Intel and ATi. Both offer better performance and lower costs.
