I can't recommend any AMD CPU's or nVidia GPu's at this point in time. I would highly advise you to take a closer look at the offerings from Intel and ATi. Both offer better performance and lower costs.

can you list a good mobo, CPU, and video card then (Intel and ATI)....? For the same price range of course

EDIT: Okay so would you all reccommend the one I listed here OR the one I listed earlier http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=45333 << just with that build I'm not getting that case or the 9600GT.

No problem. Your total for those 3 parts was $276

CPU:
Intel E5200 Wolfdale - $83.99

GPU:
Radeon HD4850 - $134.99

Mobo:
Asus P5Q SE/R - $72
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131335R

Much better performance for a total of $291...an extra $15.00 dollars.

Pretty good, but ditch the AMD and go Intel Core 2 Duo. It's cheaper and has much better performance.

For instance, I have a E6600 that runs at 2.4Ghz and it kicks the 5200+'s butt.

Where are you buying an E6600 for less than $66

Hmmm, that graphic card will be dated in a near future. Wait some more time and try to get some 1 GB dedicated memory graphic card :)

If you do go with a 1GB dedicated card you should either go with a 64-bit OS or don't bother with any more than 2GB of memory.

32-bit OS's like XP can only address ~3GB of memory and that 1GB card will eat up any reason for getting more than 2GB.

But the mobo says Open box (what does that mean? used?)

Open Box can mean it was a display model or returned with no defects (product is tested).

I've been using Newegg for 5 years and never once had a problem with any Open Box items with the exception of an instruction manual missing. I managed to survive without it.

Good find. The E6600 is an old model, here in my country it's not even sold anymore. There are better core 2 duo's than the E6600 for a smaller price. I was just trying to say Intel's CPU's at the moment have a better price/performance ratio.

The E6600 was a beast at the time I bought it. Overclocked it to 2.7Ghz and it's still going strong!

It will run all of those games fine. I'm running similar specs (though I've only got an 8800gt), and all of those games work fine on my system.

Eh, the 6400+ is pretty much a dead match for the E6600 at nearly identical performance and price.  Until recently AMD honestly owned the price/performance market but Intel has certainly made major progress and things are pretty much indistinguishable now until you hit the high end market where Intel still rules the roost..although not by quite as much as they did 6 months ago.

The restructuring AMD is dealing with could cost them depending on how it applies in a practical sense to the R&D departments, so Intel may very well put some more distance on the high end market where the constant requirement to be moving forward may be interrupted for AMD.  But that shouldn't have an impact on their ability to compete in the low & mid-range markets until they hit full stride again (if they slow down at all, its unclear right now what it actually means)
