well, I would LOVE to get the 512MB one, which I was misinformed about. So yes, I was whinning about that.

It's called "being a consumer and putting my own right up first.", not "being a fanboy so I must suck up to everything the company is doing".

Does not matter if you use online or not, when you turn on the 360 you will need to setup the new Xbox experience. When you power down your console your settings will not be saved, thus causing you to need to do it all over again when you power it back on.

I agree though, it is BS. Arcade owners are getting screwed here. They buy a console that can't even work properly out of the box. The arcades should at least come with the 20GB HDD.

If it is required, it should be provided.

EDIT: Here is the correct information I've found out from over at NeoGAF about the program....


If you have a CORE system you will receive the following options:

A) Free 512mb memory card

or

B) Xbox 20GB Refurbished HD for $19.99

 

If you have an ARCADE system you will receive the following options:

A) Xbox 20GB Refurbished HD + 3 months Xbox Live Gold for $29.99

 

The reason why there is no memory card option for ARCADE users is that it comes with a 256mb card in the box which is sufficient for the NXE update.

Hope this clears up any misinformation.

Those refurb 20GB drives will fail at a colossal rate.

MS is genious. They are basically dumping a bunch of crappy refurb drives on Arcade owners for $20 each (a profit in and of itself), and then those same people will likely get themselves a 60 or 120GB drive at full price after the refurb 20GB fails once or more times -- which of course makes their 360 unusable until they get a new drive.

Pure greedy genious. X360 users hosed again. I applaud them for their voracious appetite for money and ability to soak money from their userbase. That takes some greedy skill.

Arcade owners have 256mb card so they can store NXE update

Cheap HD option for both core/arcade owners if you want to "upgrade"

 

Only part that confuses me is how on the site it says at the bottom in small print "^ requires HDD" for NXE.
