Tell me this, is Tetris boring just because of its age?


That's different. Some games age better others worse. Especially early 3D games look and play horrible now. They were amazing for the time but they were subsequently improved in almost every way by a huge amount. Old 2D games did better and puzzle games like Tetris are as fresh today as then.

I think the problem is you may not appreciate classics the way others do. Some people love classics and take it for what it is, others cannot. I have a friend who cannot play SNES and Genesis games at all just because they are old. When my buddy says Donkey Kong Country graphics are shit, I look at him in disbelief. Where he sees old, I see technilogical achievement for its time.

I love old games and can appreciate the graphics and sound for its time. When I look at games like Banjo Tooie and Zelda, I am still floored as to how beautiful and advanced they were on a limited format. When I play games like Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid for Playstation, I see brilliant techniques used to hide aging hardware.

All this paved the road to games we enjoy today.

Well ,all the games age ...some age better and some age worse.
I wouls say OOT has aged reasonably ....the graphics and even the then marvellous sound are a big obstacle to enjoy it right now and the gameplay is dated because imited to death since then ...but it still is epic ,enjoyable ,and tunes get in your head ...I would say TP with all its improved graphics and sound isnt a lot better.

Another game very enjoyable is Lylat Wars ...that has aged admirably.Others as F-Zero X ,Mario 64 and some others have also held up very well .

Goldeneye ,though ,I agree with the OP ...the graphics ,control ,sound ,slowdown ,terrible textures and everything makes it nearly unplayable today after so much exposition to current day FPS ...
