This topic seems counter intuitive.

How are you supposed to recognize a game that you don't enjoy as "great"?

First line of the OP

"Are there games that everybody loved, got great reviews but you still didn't like them?"

Right, so greatness is supposed to be some quality inherent to a game that's simply identified by other people? Right.

SUIKODEN IS AN 8.2: HIGHLY PRAISED BUT NOT AAA.

THE HIVE HAS SPOKEN.

ALL GLORY TO THE HIVE.

For me it has to be Guitar Hero. I somehow just cannot get into it. The guitar is uncomfortable, playing it for too long is painful for the fingers, and the music, well it just doesn't do it for me. Maybe it is because i don't like Rock Music.
I love Elite Beat Agents, so i really thought i would love Guitar Hero, but i just don't. And it does so many things right in terms of options and extras, but the discomfort and the music make it unplayable to me.

No. You have to differentiate two things, what you think and what the "hive" (as you like to call it) thinks. To word it like you want, the OP is clearly asking "What games does the hive think they're great but you didn't like?". Because, you have to admit it, some games are held by the "hive" in greater esteem than others. And everybody can (and unevitabily would) disagree. For example, I think that Suikoden II is the best game ever made, but I know the "hive" doesn't, and most simply didn't play it. That doesn't make my opinion any better or worse, it's simply my opinion. As are the games I think weren't good and the "hive" liked

The usage of the word "great" here implies that general consensus somehow equates to objective quality, which I take issue with.

Final Fantasy VIII, it was gorgeous but the constant use of GF's took battle strategy out of it for me, plus getting impossibly stuck fighting 1xp enemies with no escape to any other battle ground after killing Seifer in the Lunatic Pandora made me mad.

And 3D fighting games like tekken. The fighting genre died after the great 2D ones for Genesis IMO (Except rare 2D ones like Inuyasha and Evil Zone for PS1 and Guilty Gear X2 for Xbox).

Kickin' Those Games Old School.       -       201 Beaten Games And Counting

GTA Series

FFX, FFXII

GT4

Mario Kart Wii (still fun but by far the worst in the series that pisses me off)

Banjo Kazooie

God of War Series

Jak & Daxter 2 & 3 (first one was great)

and if I compared Insomniacs PS1 Spyro series to their PS2 Ratchet and Clank series I didn't like it, R&C is a very good series and fun just Spyro is the best and when they sold it I was so sad to see the best platformer on Sony's console die =(
