Forums - Nintendo - Wii in stock at amazon for almost (or more than) 24 hours

Just because the supply seems good, doesnt mean the demand is low. Its just means the EU is getting a very healthy supply.

The Wii is by far the most popular console in my local area anyway. Each of the 10- shops i mentioned had massive signs outside saying Wii in stock & tons of people were buying them.
Also its interesting for me to see the Shelf Space "Game" (UKs largest vgames retailer) dedicates to Nintendo now (instead of 360 & PS3).
In the previous 2 generations, Game (then known as EB) was basically a PS1/2 shop. However now the largest section for this generation is DS & Wii, with PSP, 360 & PS3 getting far less shelf space.
Obviously the biggest space is still for PS2, but im not including the old gen...

So far from what i see Wii is much more popular here. Obviously things can change...

All the stuff i see for Wii (huge advertising, windown displays at stores, competitions for winning consoles on TV/radio, etc, etc) ....this in the previous generations was always dominated by sony...but now the mainstream stuff is all nintendo (ds & wii)

Why is this a big deal?
Wii has had plentiful stock in the UK for weeks now.
I went to to buy my Wii about 3 weeks ago in the shops, and atleast 10 of the shops at the shopping centre had it in stock. And lots of them, i bouhgt 2 myself from 2 seperate shops (for my friend)

The big deal is some people believe Wii won't slow down during upcoming decade. As you can see with such approach this is a really disturbing fact.

But it isn't slowing down u see... Just look at the charts!... It's in stock and hovering at around 220k a week Ww. Which is very strong!... And btw: It is not doom for Wii when it is in stock! It has been 8 months... It was about time! So just see it as a good thing! Since Wii's sales aren't slowing down!

THE NETHERLANDS

NJ5 you must not check Amazon.co.uk that much as it has been in stock almost all the time for almost a month, only occationally does it run out. Today in Ealing town center I saw quite a few signs saying "Wii In Stock!" which means
1) The UK recently got a shipment
2) They wouldn't need a sign if it was in stock all the time.

So online it's almost always in stock but on the highstreet it must still sell out.

If you care to search you'll find I made a thread a couple of months ago when Amazon.co.uk first started stocking for over 24 hours.

That said it's been contantly at No. 1 apart from one time for about an hour when the nunchuks over took it :)

"..just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake"

in Amazon Japan it has been out of stock since 3 months ago, and in the virtual page where you can monitor all the electronic stores in Japan, is also out of stock.

the get restocked again because on tuestady the wii was out of stock so they mean the have a lot of sopply for the uk but not for us

Yeah, demand is high. It's out of discussion. Read some comments on this site regards Wii's sale though. People all the time talk about supply constrained Wii. It isn't supply constrained in Europe any more. It won't be supply constrained in USA too. Soon. Not because of production increase but because of slow down. Slow down will come when big next gen games arrive. GTA, HS, Lair, Halo etc. People will understand - shit, I'm still playing GC...

You guys do realize that E-bay has them in stock too. Just because amazon has them in stock doesn't mean that actual stores are selling them. It doesn't take much more than paying for an account to sell things on amazon.

Amazon, like E-bay is not a good indicator of availability. I suggest leaving your keyboard for a day and going to an actual store and looking for one. You won't find one unless they just got a shipment in the last 12 hours.

Demand for games consoles in Europe isn't as high as in America or Japan. This is true of all consoles/handhelds, not just the Wii.

I bought a Wii last weekend, from Virgin. They had a pretty good deal going. I also tried the Game store in the same shopping centre and they were sold out, although their deals are very poor value, and I got the impression that happens quite often. So even though you can get a Wii if you look around, I think plenty of shops are still selling out.

What slow down are you talking about I understand that it maybe meeting demand now in Europe but last week was the biggest week for the Wii in the last month and largest w/w sales for a week as far back as I care to check about a month and a half as it was a about 40k increase from the July 7th and 8th numbers. Anyways the points is meeting demand has nothing to do with a decrease in demand if Europe bought 63k last week 60k the week before 61k the week before that with a steady supply that's Europes average not a slow down in demand.

interesting.

Amazon US is still out-of-stock.

Amazon US seems not to have receive Wii since 21 days (wiitracker.com).

Why ???

Is there something wrong between NoA and Amazon ?

Well, amazon.com has finally received some Wii, 1 hour ago. (wiitracker.com)

Of course, it's already sold out (in 20 mn).

Obviously Wii is ranked @ number 1.
