Forums - PC - Starcraft II campaign split into 3 separate SKU's!

Okay, wow.

I think I'll just play the original Starcraft until this either stops being bullshit or blows ver in a way where I might not be compeltely screwed buying just one version (ugh).

To all comments about value for money..... this is a blizzard game, whether we have 20 campains or 1, we have better value for our money than 99% of other games out there...

LOL @ loud hot white box for his comment # 3 on twesterm =) you kinda didn't read the thread...

and yeah this news sucks...true expansion packs usually do the same as these would by recking MP and adding campaing... but you buy a full game first then an expansion, this is buying an incomplete product...
They should have said that the other sides of the story will be expansions and not pieces of the game...
It's psychological really and that means bad marketing team at blizzard....

=> 2013 purchase as a platinium pack...

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

Well if it means each campaign is as long as all three combined in the last one, then I am perfectly fine and see nothing wrong with it.

Shio you are the Blizzard Defence Force. If you are going to accept to be treated like this by a game company so be it.

So tell me, how is changing from 3 small campaigns to 1 huge campaign and non-linear be a bad exchange? I didn't see anyone complain to Relic when they did it with Dawn of War and Company of heroes.

And the other 2 campaigns will be optional, you are not forced to buy it. It's a win-win situation Imo.

Explain to me why is it bad?

Because the other 2 campaigns aren't optional. This game is essentially made for the online play and they said that they're modifying the online with each new campaign. This can be translated as "Hey, we're going to make your version of the game obsolete occasionally and force you to buy it again, enjoy" or alternatively as "We're going to rape your wallet".

what the hell.... so your problem is that Blizzard is making expansions????????? Dude, just about every big game on PC has expansions, and every Blizzard game had expansions.

And another thing, expansions would only make SC2 obsolete for the professional players, because for the average joe it won't make SC2 worse if you dont buy expansions...

If they release the later games at a much cheaper price (ala expansions) then I'll agree. The impression I got from this 'three SKUs' talk was that they were going to charge full price for all three. I don't want to have to buy one game three times just to get the proper multiplayer - I'd be much more ok with buying one game and two half priced expansions.

So I had a nice sleep last night.. Well it seems there is a lot of damage after this anouncement... I'm sure Blizzard will explain everthing in a couple of days regarding $tarcraft 2.. I have taken a Chillpill anyone else want one?

..cause in the end it's just a game...

I honestly think blizzard just screwed the pooch with this one, everyone will buy the online version and just pirate the rest.

Listen Shio, I know you have a hard-on for anything even remotely related to PC but are you really this eager for a deep dicking from Blizzard?  It's like the moment it's announced a game is on the PC it can do no wrong no matter what.

The gameplay sucks BUT IT'S ON PC!!!! IT'S BETTER!!!

The graphics sucks WHA...BUT IT'S ON PC!!!! PC GRAPHICS ARE BETTER!!!

The game won't run on my computer...OMG NOOB BUT PC'S ARE THE CHEAPEST THING OUT THERE!!!!

They are trying to make you buy the game three times LOL BUT IT'S BETTER THAN GEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!11

-edit - and no, I'm talking about Starcraft in all of those examples before people start thinking it.

Can you honestly tell me that you are going to enjoy buying three products that should be one?  Can you honestly tell me you want to pay for Blizzard's delays and not knowing how to properly scope a project?

If you want to be that much of a sucker then by all means, go ahead.  You are the target audience.

And as for your professional players comment, that's bullshit.  If I don't buy the expansions then that means I just won't be able to find games online because I can't play with the suckers that enjoy throwing away their money.

Of course despite what people think, I don't actually play Starcraft for the online.  I always loved the last one for the campaigns and never even touched Battlenet.  I'm not buying the game three times and unless the total is under $70 I'm just not going to buy it.

Players shouldn't have to pay for their ineptitude.

Also forgot to add what if I don't like the Terrans?

Sure, with Starcraft I had to pay full price and had to play through the Terran campaign but it was at least one reasonable price. With Starcraft II I have to buy the Terran campaign and then buy the other two (since we're assuming they're expansions).

i think people are really overreacting to the situation here, we don't have enough information to conclude whether they are ripping us off or not.

I am assuming that the reason they split the campaign into three games is because the campaign will be massive. Each race will have a campaign as long as the entire Starcraft 1 campaign. So essentially Terrans = Starcraft Zerg = Broodwar Protoss = xpack 3. As far as i'm concerned it's just as good a value as buying the original starcraft and it's xpack.

If the campaigns are really short then you have a reason to be pissed off. But if the campaigns are big there is no problem.

Think about it...you payed $60 Halo 3, a 6 hour single player game, nobody complained. You pay $50 for (likely) a 10 hour campaign, then $20 for additional 10 hour campaigns.

In Half Life 2 you had a 8-10 hour single player, then they release episode 1, and then 2, nobody complained. There are games that have far worse value than what Blizzard is proposing.
