I've seen differences between them before, but wow. FOURTY THOUSAND? I mean. Its not even remotely close. Famitsu is reporting a 86% sellthrough of the games initial shipment. And this just undercuts the holy hell out of it. Strange days. But outside of that good numbers. A 360 game charted again.

Wow, indeed.

And what's with the Zelda number (LTD)? I thought it cracked 600,000 ...

Your right, didnt see that, another 14k or so difference? Egads. Still though, I would take 14k as statistical noise. We know they both track differently. But a massive 40k difference just seems a bit to large.

Maybe the disaster that happened in Japan is the cause for the discrepancy?

That probably IS it. Perhaps MC deflated their numbers, expecting less of a sell through because of it. OR, maybe Famitsu and ioi should have deflated theirs because of it.

Which numbers are more accurate? The Media Create numbers seem more believable, and isn't that where VG charts gets their Japan numbers?

Timing is always a bit trickier on late week launches, especially with a typhoon and earthquake.

grandmaster neither service is really more accurate than the other, although Famitsu tends to track higher for most games and hardware. Vgchartz has roughly the same discrepencies you would expect between Famitsu and MC. If pressed though, Vgchartz is probably a little closer to Famitsu than MC on most weeks.

MC had a significantly lower figure for Zelda when it launched. This is the difference.

I would either be inclined to "take the higher" value for any title, on either chart - or split the difference down the middle. Not sure that VG does - probably some blend, combined with their own figures.

Scary if true that DQS did 263k...Although unlikely.

200k first day + 60k next two days. That'd kill DQS on it's second week.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
