Forums - Sony - FF XIII now 13% complete

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/805/805646p1.html

According to Sony's press materials, the highly anticipated RPG sequel is now 13% complete. Yes, a low, unlucky completion percentage. But thankfully it's not as low as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which is listed as 1.3%!

Now those Game Informer rumors (including the 40 GB PS3 one) don't seem so unlikely, do they?

It confirms that almost everything is still possible about this game, especially if they were to make it multiplatform... And it also tends to confirm that SquareEnix is not working a lot on this game for now...

yea it looks like they are taking their time, and makes me doubt we will see this game in 2008 even. I don't think they want to release it until the userbase gets bigger. Even though versus is less complete, it is a game that should take much less time to make.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

ummm ..... I think this is more of a joke type thing.

FF 13 = 13%. I could be wrong, but I think the devs just don't want to give out numbers. Lets watch for TGS.

That makes sense (the other number is 1.3%) , but it could mean that the percentage is low anyway. I mean, what's the point of lying in press releases? Aren't they supposed to be a serious business or something?

I was going to say...I hate when developers throw out numbers like 13% percent complete, or 74.234% complete...just say when the game will be out and that's fine!

Also, I'm really sick of fans saying "so and so game only uses 40% of the console!!!!" "That means the next game could use more like 80%, and it will look TWICE AS GOOD!!" "Pre-pre-alpha?? That means this game will look 1000x times better later!"  Just bugs the crap outta me...just because a game is in pre-alpha, does not mean it will look radically better...it may be different and more fine-tuned, and sometimes that actually means a decrease in effects.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I doubt they would joke like that.  People really don't like it when you play with them and release false information only to later come back and say "just kidding!".  Also, I don't think SE has ever done anything like post false info ony to later come back and give the real info so there's no reason to think they would start doing that.

Honestly, if it's only 13% done now, that means they have done a lot of redesigns (which isn't a bad thing at all) and I would expect to see this game in Japan until at the earliest 2009.

This is just prolonging my inevitable purchase of the PS3. Hopefully MGS4 has a higher percentage.

Anyone still think the PS3 has any glimmer of hope in Japan? 13%!? If that is accurate there is no way this game hits before 2009 in Japan. Vs XIII will be lucky to hit then if its just over a percent complete.

A number like 13% generally represents the ammount of development they have completed as compared to their budgeted development timeline; It is likely that Square estimated 18 to 30 months of development which would put the game at 2 to 4 months into development ...

Basically, if Square wanted to they could easily switch to any platform (including the Nintendo DS )at this time ...
