Forums - Nintendo - The DS, should I get one?

My DS buying experience was Christmas 2 years ago, got a mario Kart bundle for 200 bucks. Had a great time, went back to the east coast, showed my roomies. Another one bought the same bundle, and we raced, a lot. Then he got a lite, as did another, and then 3-4 player games weren't uncommon, swapping around games like Yoshi's Island, New Super Mario Brothers, Mario and Luigi partners in time etc. We would have had many more games, but we were all poor university students, but the fun was well worth it.

Now, it's not going to be for absolutely everyone. The DS cartridges only allow about 32-64 megs of data for now, and though it has games in all genres, and great games in nearly all genres, it doesn't cover some perfectly. Also, there's that news story that pedophiles can use it to track your children, because we know and trust the news entirely, right? Right?

Why did you spend your money on DBZ, mystery dungeon, spiderman, rayman, and nintendogs? Maybe that's why it's dissapointing to you: you bought crap games.

Yes buy it. It's worth every penny and all those games listed are to.

So are...

The Castlevania Games

and

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.

and hey... What's the difference between Disney Magic and the other Meteos??
(Other then the Disney Part) Never played the original.

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

The Disney version uses... well, Disney themes for the blocks. From what I've heard it makes the game more confusing and difficult.

Rath, put your hands on a DS and play some games that use stylus control, just to get the feel.

The game that made me buy it was Trauma Center. Great game. Since you like Zelda, the new Phantom Hourglass game may do it for you, whenever that drops outside of Japan. It's a great handheld, worth every penny.

  • Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time: Very enjoyable RPG. I liked it much more than Final Fantasy III for the DS.

I was really surprised at just how good this game was.  The cut scenes get a little excessive (they're essentially Luigi crying, someone getting stressed over looking after them, Mario does something cute, repeat-- funny the first few times but get old quickly) but the gameplay is a lot of fun and it is in fact a fun story.

As for DS games you should get:

  • Elite Beat Agents
  • Tetris DS
  • Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
  • New Super Mario Bros.
  • Brain Age or  Big Brain Academy (both good)
  • Hotel Dusk
  • Ace Wright
  • Bomberman (if you have friends with DS's local)
  • Mariokart DS
  • Castlevani: DS and PR
  • Puzzle Quest
  • Advance Wars: Duel Strike
  • Final Fantasy VI (it's GBA, but it's the best in the series)
  • Brothers in Arms: DS
  • Trauma Center
  • Warioware Touched!
There are a lot of other great games, but those are just some of the better ones of the best.

I don't have the money to buy one now but if i have to give a reason i would say 3 words: "It prints money!".
