Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The DS, should I get one?

I am currently playing rocket slime now which I left in the back burner due to games overload. It is quite fun. A mix of puzzle and platform/action with a dash of rpg. Worth checking out if you're remotely interested.
Puzzle quest is a must get if you a puzzle fan. I don't even play puzzle and don't like bejewel at all, yet this game is totally fun.
Planet puzzle league is very good, too. I didn't like Tetris though.

There's still a long list of games that I don't even have time for. Make sure you don't buy bad games like leo-j, lol

I have a ds trust me its not worth it.

it'll be hard for people to trust you

Look I dont care if you dont trust me, the ds isnt worth wasting money on, its the worst handheld I ever bought leterally, These are the games I have for it,

Why did you spend your money on DBZ, mystery dungeon, spiderman, rayman, and nintendogs? Maybe that's why it's dissapointing to you: you bought crap games.

I was young and stupid, the ds didint give me anywhere near the experionce the psp gave me.

So now that you're 14 you have matured enough to play Vice City Stories or whatever? And the DS just can't offer that? LOL

I lost my Elite Beat Agents!!!!!

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

@ Your Mother

Thank You.

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

Right, I'v decided Im definitely getting one and I'm thinking about importing games from the US (I live in NZ) as this will it turns out, if I buy three games, save me a hundred bucks when I include shipping and exchange rates.
The DS is compatible with all games from all regions right (apart from China)?

Also the short list of games I was thinking of getting to start off with was.

- Super Mario 64
- Metroid Prime Hunters
- Elite Beat Agents

However I notice none of you posted Super Mario 64, is it not as good as the original? Is there anything I really REALLY should put in place of one of those three games?

Thanks for all your help by the way guys.

Only get Mario 64 if you ever have felt the need to play that game without a joystick. I'd suggest New Super Mario Bros instead.

The DS is compatible with any region (dunno about China, however - never seen a DS game for the Chinese market only).

About Mario 64: There are new gameplay elements which allow you to play with characters other than Mario. I think the game is alright - I was surprised that you could control Mario that well, given the lack of an analog thumbstick and all.

I didn't mention it not because it's bad, but simply because I played the N64 version TO DEATH AND BACK, THEN PLAYED IT TO DEATH SEVERAL TIMES OVER AGAIN...

Entirely understandable =P The 64 version is afterall an awesome game.

I might not get it after thinking about it a little bit, Im quite likely to be getting a new N64 (well not new but buying one again) and Ill HAVE to get SM64 on that anyway.

Oops, I hit the Post button. Sorry.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

I'd say get one. I talked my girlfriend into buying a DS Lite last year, and we've played quite some games:

- NSMB - just great
- New Princess Peach - too easy, but it's my girlfriends favourite game (yeah, I know, sounds cliché, but she says so)
- Yoshi's Island DS - good game, but not as inspired or balanced as the original by far
- Phoenix Wright 1 & 2 are cool games if you like the adventure style, but I personaly found the dialogue and protagonists a bit too weird... probably "lost in translation"
- Mario Kart DS - one of the best MK games, great controls and tracks
- Mario vs. Donkey Kong - cool and very original puzzle game
- Another Code / Hotel Dusk - I didn't play them, but my girlfriend did and enjoyed them a lot. AC is way too short, and both games are VERY text heavy

And that's just a tiny fraction of the games available. Although (as you live in Europe) there's not hardly as much choice here as you have in the US or even Japan.
