Damn there are alot of under 12s owning portable console. Including myself even though my passport and birth certificate seem to suggest I am 30. Someone started a thread recently asking why the hate towards PS3. Well this is one of the reasons why. Some Sony officials are such idiots they can't but generate hate towards their products.

The makers of the PSP-1000, PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 are going to lecture Nintendo on incremental refreshes?

As I recall, over the lifetime of the constantly improving PSP, the price has also dropped.  I don't think you can call the DSi an "iteration" when they hike the price to above that of the PSP, whereas the DSLite was cheaper.

If you can call it an iteration, its certainly different from Sony's concept of one.  I think the Sony remark was a bit off the mark, personally, and I also don't think the DSi is targetted at kids at all -- the pricetag is too high.  However, its certainly not as appealing as a PSP to me, especially for $10 more.

Go ask Microsoft what they think about Mac computers...you'll get the same general response, minus the age issue. They'll tell you it's not as good as it is.

These are COMPETITORS people. Go look the word up..why a Sony head saying this bothers any of you is beyond me.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Not such a smart thing to say, but it's a fact that a huge part of the DS userbase is under 12.

And you agree that a even bigger portion of DS owners are above 12, right?

Not to mention the DS reaches the oldest people.

Yup, I agree. Huge =/= majority. I myself own a red DS lite.

But is important to point, according with graphic, that 12 year old kids and below represent 20-25%, or even less percentage of users, at least in Japan.

Interesting.  Its only available as a bundle in the US, at the beginning (next week), and its the same price as the PSP-2000 bundles -- $199.99 USD.  Either Amazon has mispriced it, things are different in the UK than the US, or that article is just Plain Wrong (tm).

I'm going to have to call BS on your quoted article.

Sony must be pissed off that the under 12 Nintendo DS crowd has so much more disposable income than their mature PSP market.
