Forums - Gaming - SRPGs similar to Disgaea series and Final Fantasy Tactics?

Lately my girlfriend has been on a Disgaea binge. She stormed through Disgaea on PSP, then went on and breezed through Disgaea 2 and now is more than halfway through Disgaea 3, all within a month or so.

She hasn't played Tactics yet so I will most likely have her play that afterwards (She ways she wants Disgaea 4, but unfortunately for her Disgaea 3 just came out).

What other games are similar to these two game series besides Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom, La Pucelle Tactics?

I need something that is reasonably priced whether it be for 360, PS3, PS2, etc... system does not matter as I own just about everthing.

I looked into Spectral Force 3 but to be honest that game is trash, we both hated it.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

You guys should try out the Fire Emblem series, which IMO is the best SRPG series ever created.

^^^^ This. Fire Emblem is awesome.

Check out other SRPGs by the same company that made Disgaea

Makai Kingdom: Chronicles of the Sacred Tome
La Pucelle Tactics
Phantom Brave

(I haven't played two of the three)

If you own a GBA you have to try Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis
For the PS2 Suikoden Tactics is a good tactic game, not spectacular, but good nonetheless

I've been playing a lot of Luminous Arc for the DS recently, and it's pretty damn good. There's almost none of the character micromanagement found in FF:T and the NIS games, but in my book that's a good thing. It may not be in yours, though.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

I had Fire Emblem for the GBA, I think that was the only one I have ever played.

I wouldn't mind checking out the Wii game but as is the case with HD games, I refuse to pay full price for a game almost 1 year old. Game should be cheaper by now.

Unless someone knows where I could get it for <$30.

I need something cheap, I just paid for LBP and Fable 2 the other day.

If you are hard up for an option than La Pucelle is ok. I wasn't able to finish it personally. If you think your girlfriend is extremely good and patient at playing these games, or you hate her and want to put her in her place, then you could try Fire Emblem Wii. That game is just way too hard for me.

Other than that.....I'm afraid I can't think of any more. Anything by Nippon Ichi is likely to be an SPRG, so you could just look them up if you want.

...

For the PSP you have the absolutely excellent Jean D´Arc ,made by the geniuses at Level 5.Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP is another excellent game.

I am impressed with your girlfriend ,not many girls are able to put so much interest in such time-consuming games.

Get Path of Radiance first.  Its a gamecube game that should be easy enough to find relatively cheap.  If you like it, then get Radiant Dawn for the Wii.
