Forums - Microsoft - Halo Wars shaping up to be huge

Halo Wars' narrative is shaping up very very nicely and the game just gets more and more depth everytime new videos are shown. The Halo universe just keeps getting bigger! I think the control scheme is pretty tight as well.

I recommend anyone interested to watch the Gametrailers TV show shown yesterday to see the interviews and gameplay vids.

Heres an embed of the story trailer (dont worry, no spoilers):

WOW. I didnt think I would want this game that much. That is some awesome CGI. Sh*t! I dont have enough money this year and early next for all my first day purchases. The Halo universe and character designs look and fit better than Starcrafts. The covenant and the entire story is awesome. Oh yes.

will this get a pc release .... its a rule of mine no rts on the console, evertime ive seen it tried its been bad

Dont worry, its out June 2009 so we all have time to save up ! :)

@kowenicki

Its MS / Bungie's precious baby after all!

@goddog

No PC release. And trust me, I also have previously ruled out RTS on console, much to the chagrin of some of my Live friends because C&C3 had a pretty good control scheme, but Halo Wars is going to change that.

Its going to have radial control (holding a button to open a sphere to select build/commands) and it will use the D-Pad to go to the important areas during the game. Also, the game will have much less focus on micro-management as the base/building is simple yet deep, and more on set piece combat.

The game looks amazing, and the story work seems great so far. But have they listed a release date, it was going to be next year but then they canned all the other stuff and tossed all the workers onto this.

Aaaaaah don't show this thread to twesterm. He will come and destroy our hopes for Halo Wars

Nice clip. But the controls will never be good enough - granted, C&C wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it was still nowhere near good enough. And the fact that you just said it will make use of the 360 D-pad has put me off even more.

After finishing C&C3 on the 360 I would say this. I will take the harder controls but the ability to play lazing on my couch instead of having to sit at a desk.

@Machina

Hehe why does the D-Pad controls put you off? If a major fight is taking place, or my base is getting attacked, I want to instantly go to that location and this will help tremendously.

It may be the trigger buttons that do this too, im not super sure of the control scheme, but a lot of work has gone into Halo Wars being much more streamlined. I dont want to be hindered when building unit queues and map scrolling etc and this has been the key address in Halo Wars.

By the way, your 360 is fine now hopefully?
